Karen Sherril Robbins, 49, a former teacher at Bell Street Middle School, in Clinton, South Carolina has been arrested on allegations of criminal sexual conduct with a minor and committing a lewd act upon a child.
It is alleged that the offenses occurred between September and November of 2005 when Robbins was a teacher at Thornwell School in Laurens County. The offenses are alleged to have taken place inside Robbins’ car, in the Mill Pond Road area and at her home in Clinton.
The alleged victim, a teenage boy, was at the time 15-years-old.
Robbins was arrested Saturday on three counts of a lewd act on a child, and three counts of criminal sexual conduct with a child and was reportedly released from the Laurens County Detention Center later on Saturday night on bail. In some reports Robbins’ bail was listed as $15,000 and in another as $90,000.
Bell Street Middle School in Clinton, South Carolina is the school scandalized by Allenna Ward who recently pleaded guilty to having sex with at least five students.

Darren Clark Atkins, 32, an agriculture teacher and FFA advisor at Clinton High School in Clinton, South Carolina has reportedly been arrested on allegations of having inappropriate relations with two 16-year-old female students.
Reportedly, Atkins was charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
According to Clinton Police Chief Stacy Drakeford, following his arrest Atkins is out of jail on $50,000 bond.
Chief Drakeford is quoted in news media reports as indicating that his office had turned the investigation over to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and that, according to a report from that agency, the alleged incidents occurred in 2008 in Clinton.
Arrests warrants state that Atkins is suspected of having sex and engaging in other inappropriate sexual activities with two 16-year-old female students between August 2008 and June 3 of this year.

Kari Huggins Campbell, 27, a former physical education teacher at Lake City High School in Lake City, South Carolina has reportedly been arrested on allegations she had a months-long sexual relationship with a student under the age of 16.
Reportedly, Campbell was arrested Thursday morning and is charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and lewd act on a minor.
According to a press release by the school district, district officials began an investigation after school administrators began hearing concerns about text messages between the teacher and the student.
Reportedly, the district notified law enforcement after a teacher allegedly admitted Wednesday to the relationship. Campbell was reportedly fired by Florence School District 3 on Wednesday.
Campbell was released Thursday afternoon from the Florence County Detention Center in Effingham on a $15,000 surety bond.
06/18/10 – Kari Campbell Jailed On Alleged Bond Violation
Reportedly, Kari Huggins Campbell has been jailed for allegedly violating the “no contact” condition of her bond.
It was alleged that telephone records demonstrate Campbell has repeatedly violated the “no contact” provision of her bond by calling the victim and other students, both directly and through others.

Melissa Kellie McBee, 47, a former health occupations teacher and cross country coach at Carolina High School in Greenville, South Carolina has reportedly been arrested on allegations of the sexual abuse of a then 15-year-old female student.
Reportedly, McBee was arrested on charges of criminal sexual conduct with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
McBee came to the attention of authorities when the alleged victim, now 21, came forward and said she wanted to report possible sex abuse that happened when she was a teen.
It is alleged that the woman told investigators that she had moved in with Melissa McBee, one of her teachers at Carolina High School, six years ago, when she was a student at the school.
It is further alleged that the woman told investigators that she lived with McBee between August 2005 and January 2007 and that there was sexual contact between her and McBee at least once when she was 15 and that McBee provided her with a vodka and tonic to drink and on occasions also gave her beer when she was 16.
According to a statement from the Greenville County School District, McBee was placed on administrative leave when the allegations surfaced in February and subsequently resigned from the school system in March. McBee had been with the school system since 1991.
Following her arrest, McBee was reportedly being held in the Greenville County Detention Center waiting for a bond hearing.

Vernon LaMarcus Cheeks, 27, a former health teacher and coach at York Junior High School in York, South Carolina has been arrested and charged with two counts of criminal solicitation of a minor.
It is alleged that Cheeks used his cell phone to send sexually explicit text messages to a 15-year-old girl from February to March with the messages talking about meeting at a hotel for sex.
It is further alleged that Cheeks sent similar text messages and explicit pictures back and forth with a 14-year-old girl from December of last year through March, 2009 and that pictures show both Cheeks and the girl posing in their underwear.
Cheeks came to the attention of authorities when the parents of one of the girls discovered the alleged illicit messaging and called the sheriff’s department.
A spokesperson for the school system has indicated that Cheeks was put on administrative leave on March 12th and was subsequently fired.
If convicted, Cheeks faces a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a $5,000 fine on each count.
06/11/10 – Guilty Plea and Sentencing
Reportedly, Vernon Cheeks has pleaded guilty to solicitation of a minor.
Cheeks was sentenced to three years in prison followed by three years probation.
Cheeks is required to register as a sex offender.

Norbert Richard Ryan IV, 32, an 8th grade Social Studies teacher and B-team football coach at St. James Middle School in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina has reportedly been arrested on allegations of sexual contact with a 13-year-old female student.
Reportedly, Ryan is charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
According to police, detectives began their investigation on Tuesday after students and parents made allegations of a sexual relationship between Ryan and a student. Police also indicate that it appears the relationship between the alleged victim and Ryan was mutual.
According to Sgt. Robert Kegler, with the Horry County Police Department, the allegations were corroborated by both the victim and the suspect.
Reportedly, Ryan has been suspended by the school system, pending the outcome of his case.
Following his arrest, bond for Ryan was set in the amount of $40,000 and conditioned upon his wearing a GPS monitor, not leaving the state without the court’s permission and not being allowed to be on any Horry County School grounds.
Ryan is reportedly free on bond.
12/08/09 – Norbert Ryan Resigns
Norbert Ryan has reportedly resigned from his position with the Horry County Schools.
The school has also removed Ryan’s computer from the classroom as it could be used in the investigation.
06/11/10 – Guilty Plea and Sentencing
Reportedly, Norbert Richard Ryan IV pleaded guilty Wednesday to a charge of second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor younger than 16.
Circuit Court Judge Benjamin Culbertson sentenced Ryan to seven years in prison, and ordered him pay court costs and be placed on the central registry of child abuse and neglect.
