Edward Antonio “Tony” Hubbard, 33, a former physical education and driver’s education teacher at Lakewood High School in Sumter, South Carolina has reportedly been arrested on allegations of engaging in sexual activity with a fifteen year-old girl.

Reportedly, Hubbard is charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor, disseminating obscene materials and contributing to delinquency of a minor.

It addition to allegedly engaging in sexual activity with the girl, it is further alleged that Hubbard permitted the girl to view pornographic materials and gave her alcohol.

According to school Superintendent Dr. J. Frank Baker, Hubbard resigned his position with the school system on Wednesday.

11/09/09 – Case Update

Edward Hubbard made an initial court appearance on Friday at which time the judge set a $100,000 surety bond for Hubbard’s release from jail.

Hubbard’s bond is conditioned upon is having no contact with the girl or her family and the judge required that Hubbard be fitted with an electronic monitoring device while on house arrest.

Joseph Jay Magni, Jr, 28, a former teacher at Leavelle McCampbell Middle School in Graniteville, South Carolina has reportedly been arrested on allegations of lewd act and criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

Reportedly, Magni is charged with five counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor and five counts of lewd act on a minor.

It is alleged that between the months of May and June 2009 that Magni committed criminal sexual conduct and a lewd act on a 14-year-old female victim, while at the Aiken Mall Cinemas.

It is further alleged that during the same time frame that Magni committed a lewd act and criminal sexual conduct on a 14-year-old female victim while at Leavelle McCampbell Middle School.

Reportedly, Magni was being held in the Aiken County Detention Center.

Joseph Magni is the second teacher from Leavelle McCampbell Middle School arrested recently on allegations of sex crimes involving a student. Last month, Tammy Key was reportedly charged with four counts each of criminal sexual conduct with a minor and lewd act on a minor.

Richard Priode, 44, a former band teacher at Sullivan Middle School in Rock Hill, South Carolina has reportedly been charged on allegations of taking indecent liberties with a student at South Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina where he taught previously.

Reportedly, Priode who turned himself in to police, is charged with indecent liberties with a student which is a felony.

It is alleged that Priode had a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student at South Mecklenburg High School in 2007.

Priode reportedly left the employment of that school system in June, 2008.

Following his arrest this morning, Priode was being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.

Reportedly, Priode has directed school bands in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia prior to working at South Mecklenburg High School.

10/28/09 – Guilty Plea

Reportedly, Richard Priode has pleaded guilty to taking indecent liberties with a student.

Following his plea, Priode was reportedly sentenced to 6 to 8 months in jail with the sentenced suspended with 24 months supervised probation.

Priode will be required to enter a sex offender treatment process.
