William Greg Whitehurst, 47, a Chowan County, North Carolina Sheriff’s Deputy and former school resource officer at John A. Holmes High School in Edenton, North Carolina has been indicted by a Chowan County grand jury on allegations of sex crimes involving a female student.

Whitehurst was indicted on three counts of second-degree sexual offense, three counts of taking indecent liberties with a student and three counts of having sexual activities with a student.

The alleged incidents on which the charges are based are said to have occurred in the fall of 2005 when Whitehurst was a school resource officer and involved a then 17-year old student who was reportedly a senior.

The allegations were made to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation office in Elizabeth City this past summer and the Chowan Sheriff’s Office was reportedly notified of those allegation in October.

Deputy Whithurst, who has been with the department for 21 years, has been placed on administrative leave, pending an internal investigation.

Whitehurst who turned himself in following his indictment has a court date set for May 4th.

Andre Johnson, 37, a former school sentry at Wilson Foundation Academy in Rochester, New York has been found guilty of molesting six boys aged 10 to 16 since 2000.

Johnson went to trial on 36 charges alleging that he sexually assaulted 10 boys from 1999 to 2006. Seven of those charges were dropped when two of the alleged victims were mistaken about the year they were allegedly abused, saying 1999 when in fact the alleged assault took place in 2000.

Johnson was tried on the remaining counts and after about two weeks of trial and two days of deliberations the jury found him guilty on 24 felony counts of sodomizing, sexually abusing and endangering the boys.

Johnson faces up to 50 years in prison at sentencing currently set for March 14.

3/18/08 – Sentencing

Andre Johnson was sentenced last Friday to a period of 29 2/3 to 39 years in prison.

The sentence was the results of Johnson’s convictions in the sexual abuse of six boys.

Dennis Edward Lucas Jr., 39, of Moreno Valley, California and a campus supervisor at Fremont Elementary School in Riverside, California has been arrested on suspicion of molesting a 10-year-old fifth-grade student.

Reportedly the girl told police that Lucas started talking to her on Tuesday and began touching her while touching himself through his clothes.

Lucas came to the attention of police after the girl’s mother complained to the school principal on Wednesday morning and the principal called police.

Following his arrest Lucas was released on $50,000 bond.

Five additional allegations of inappropriate touching by Lucas have been made since his arrest.

Lucas who monitors school security has been placed on administrative leave.
