Vincent Harry Greco, 63, a former volunteer music teacher at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts has been arrested for failing to inform school officials of his sex offender status.

Greco, who is also the director of the Jazz Ensemble, was taken into custody just before the start of a scheduled rehearsal at Mesa College, San Diego where Greco’s band rehearses.
Sex-crimes detectives were notified last week about possible inappropriate conduct between Greco and a student at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts.
Police say that Greco is a registered sex offender who allegedly failed to notify authorities at the school of his sex offender status as required by law.
Following his arrest, Greco was jailed in lieu of $500,000 bond.
Reportedly the Jazz Ensemble was founded by Greco in 2006 and involved students ranging in age from 13 to 19-years-old, with the students coming from several area high schools.
Reportedly Greco is no longer associated with the school.
02/25/09 – Court Appearance
Vincent Greco appeared in court for arraignment today and entered a not guilty plea to failing to re-register as a sex offender when he moved from Poway to another San Diego jurisdiction last summer.
The judge set bail for Greco in the amount of $100,000.
Greco has a readiness conference set for March 6 and a preliminary hearing set for March 10.
03/10/09 – Preliminary Hearing
Vincent Harry Greco appeared in San Diego Superior Court for a preliminary hearing today and was bound over for trial on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender.
The dismissed a a second count of failing to provide a change of address to authorities, saying the charge was redundant.
Greco remains jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail.
05/15/09 – Guilty Plea and Sentencing
On April 16, Vincent Harry Greco pleaded guilty to a felony charge of a sex offender failing to notify authorities of his change of address.
On Thursday, Greco was sentenced to 32 months in state prison as a result of his guilty plea.
