Hope Ashley Jacoby, 23, athletic trainer at Tustin High School in Tustin, California has been arrested on suspicion of engaging in unlawful sex acts with a male student.

Jacoby was arrested last week on suspicion of oral copulation of a minor and unlawful sex with a minor.

She reportedly came to the attention of authorities who were informed of the unlawful acts by a student who allegedly saw a text message photograph on the cell phone of the alleged victim.

Police say that the victim is between 14 and 17-years old and police have also indicated that there might be other victims.

Investigators believe Jacoby had sex with the male athlete on several occasions, including at her San Juan Capistrano home and her car while parked near an elementary school.

Following her arrest, Jacoby was reportedly jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail but has since been released on bail.

Reportedly Jacoby worked for a company hired by the school to train its athletes in various sports and in late November, Jacoby submitted a letter of resignation to the district, stating that Friday, December 19th would be her last day because she intended to further her education. Jacoby was arrested on what was reportedly her final day at the school.

07/29/09 – Sentencing

Hope Jacoby, who earlier this month pleaded guilty to six counts involving sexual contact with a minor, has been sentenced to three years’ probation and ordered to perform 240 hours of community service.

The judge reduced the counts to which Jacoby pleaded guilty to misdemeanors over prosecutor’s objections.

The judge noted that Jacoby is a college graduate on her way to a productive life and is not likely to re-offend and that the victim was a male student who was 16 and 17 during the course of conduct and was a willing participant who had engaged in some deception to maintain the relationship.

Laura J. Obzera, 49, a school nurse at Wood View Elementary School in Bolingbrook, Illinois was arrested and charged in Spetember of this year with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for allegedly having sexual relations with three teen boys in 2006.

Reportedly, a spokesperson for Bolingbrook Police says there is no indication that the abuse of the boys, ages 13 to 17, happened on school property and Obzera apparently did not meet them through her job.

Obzera came to the attention of authorities during an investigation into “sexually charged” text messages that were exchanged between an adult female and male teens.

Following her arrest, Obzera was reportedly released on $50,000 bond.

07/20/09 – Guilty Plea

Laura J. Obzera has reportedly pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dropped two additional counts of the same offense.

As part of the plea, Obzera admitted that she had sexual contact three years ago with a teenage boy.

Sentencing is set for September 29th and Obzera faces a three to seven-year prison sentence, however there is the option of probation, if the judge so chooses. The Will County state’s attorney’s office has indicated that the prosecution will be asking the judge for a prison sentence for Obzera.

Obzera will be required to register as a sex offender.

John George Rainis, 24, an athletic trainer and a full time substitute teacher at Sussex Central High School in Georgetown, Delaware has reportedly been arrested on allegations of inappropriately touching a female student.

Rainis was arrested at the school on Wednesday, one day after the arrest of John O. Thompson, a teacher at the school, on allegations of having a sexual relationship with another student.

Rainis is reportedly charged with sexual extortion and third-degree unlawful sexual contact.

It is alleged that while the female student was receiving treatment for an athletic injury, Rainis touched her inappropriately. It is further alleged that when the girl attempted to stop his advances Rainis reminded her that he was the only one who could clear her to participate in her sport.

Investigators say that they believe that the improper touching occurred on multiple occasions during March.

Following his arraignment on the charges, Rainis was reportedly being held in lieu of $7,000 cash bail.

06/04/09 – Case Update

John Rainis reportedly made bond and was released earlier today.

Reportedly, Rainis is no longer employed by the school district.

Rainis is the third employee of Sussex Central High to be arrested on charges alleging the sexual abuse of students.

John O. Thompson was arrested one day before Rainis and last year, principal Dana Goodman pleaded guilty to having sex with a 17-year-old student
