Sheral Lee Smith, 37, a teacher at Summit School, a private school, in Jackson, Mississippi has been arrested and charged with statutory rape and transfer of a controlled substance.

Smith is reportedly charged with the statutory rape of a 14-year-old male student.

The crime is alleged to have taken place at Smith’s home. The charge alleging the transfer of a controlled substances is predicated on a belief that Smith gave the boy some type of “pill”, reportedly Xanax.

Smith was arrested on September 17th and was released on $50,000 bail two days later.

Sheral Lee Smith says that the allegations against her are false and that the boy was a friend of her son.

Smith says that her husband coached the boy in soccer and that he has been to the Smith home many times.

Meanwhile, prosecutors say that the relationship between Smith and the boy existed before she began teaching at the start of the current school year and that he was not one of her students.

Smith was reportedly initially suspended from her job but was subsequently fired.

Rankin County District Attorney Michael Guest says that the case will go to a grand jury which will decide if the case goes to trial.

Charles Michael Muskiet, 38, a Latin teacher at Baylor School, a private school in Chattanooga, Tennessee has been arrested in Dalton, Ga., on charges of criminal attempt at child molestation and computer pornography child exploitation.

Muskiet was arrested by agents involved in the Innocent Images Task Force after he allegedly went to Dalton, GA for what he thought would be sex with an underage person.

Following his arrest, Muskiet was being held in the Whitfield County jail without bond on Monday night.

Reportedly Muskiet, who began teaching at the school this year, has been fired by the school administration.

Reportedly, Charles Muskiet was released from jail on $50,000 bond on Friday.

Ronald Butler II, 28, an assistant football coach at Gulliver Preparatory Academy in Pinecrest, Florida has been arrested on allegations of having sex with a 17-year-old girl.

Police say that the Butler befriended the girl and that they have known each other for about a year.

Police are not revealing if the girl is a student at Gulliver Preparatory Academy.

Reportedly Butler is being charged with two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

It is alleged that over the course of their relationship that Butler engaged in sexual activity with the girl on multiple occasions.

A Gulliver spokesperson indicated that Butler is no longer employed by the school.

Investigators asked anyone with information about the case to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.

Forest Cascade Miles, 24, a former teacher at Empire Academy in Santa Cruz, California has been arrested on charges of sexual assault and molestation of two female students, ages 16 and 17.

Miles has initially been charged with unlawful intercourse with a minor, lewd or lascivious acts with a minor, sexual penetration with a foreign object and annoying or molesting a child.

Miles came to the attention of authorities when the parent of a 17 year old student at Empire Academy reported to police that Miles, was having a sexual relationship with his daughter.

Police in conducting their investigation contacted the school and learned that Miles had possibly been involved in inappropriate behavior with another 16 year old female student while teaching at the school.

Both girls have allegedly told investigators that they had a sexual relationship with Forest Miles.

Police say they are not sure if there are other victims and ask that anyone with information contact the Santa Cruz Police Department Investigations Section at 831-420-5820.

08/22/08 - Initial Court Appearance

Forest Miles made an initial court appearance this morning and pleaded not guilty to charges that he had sexual relations with at least two teenage students.

Miles reportedly told the judge that he had saved $10,000 in order to return to school. The judge told Miles in view of that he did not qualify for a public defender.

Miles was ordered to appear back in court on Tuesday with an attorney.

Miles remains jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.

08/26/08 - Miles To Be Released On His Own Recognizance

Forest Miles will be released on his own recognizance.

Reportedly Miles will likely be released on Thursday and is to live with his mother out of the county.

While free, Miles will be under house arrest and will be required to wear a GPS ankle bracelet.

The judge also ruled that Miles, who has been accepted to the spring semester at San Jose State where he planned to study applied physics, will be allowed to attend classes.

Eric Grange, 45, a former teacher at the Montessori Community School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina has been convicted in a jury trial on charges alleging the sexual abuse of female students at the school in 2005 and 2006.

The victims were girls, ages 5 to 8-years-old.

Grange is a French citizen.

He abruptly resigned from the school in June 2006 when school officials questioned him about suspected abuse of girls.

Grange was arrested by U.S. immigration agents at Dulles International Airport outside Washington, D.C. approximately three months later when a warrant was issued for his arrest.

There was little coverage of Grange’s trial as the prosecution and defense agreed to bar the press from the Durham County Superior Court where the trial took place.
