Jerome Bennett III, 46, a technology and seventh and eighth-grade science teacher at the St. Monica School in Berwyn, Pennsylvania has been indicted on federal child pornography charges.

Federal agents seized two laptop computers, two external hard drivers and two flash drives allegedly containing images of child pornography Thursday afternoon.

If convicted, Bennett could face up to 20 years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000.

In a statement posted on the school web site and sent to parents, school officials indicated that Bennett’s contract would not be renewed and that he would not be returning to the school. A school/parish spokesperson also indicated that administrators had requested the FBI examine school computers.

Joshua Uhrich, 30, a special education teacher at South Philadelphia High School, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has been arrested and charged on allegations of inappropriate contact with a 14-year-old girl.

Uhrich has been charged with statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, indecent assault and other charges.

It is alleged that Uhrich was sexually involved with the girl whom he met on MySpace for a period of two weeks and came to the attention of police when the girl told her sister who in turn told her mother and the mother contacted police.

At the start of the investigation Uhrich was placed on paid suspension. With the filing of charges his status has been changed to suspended without pay and actions are reportedly being taken to fire him.

02/07/08 - Uhrich Freed On Bond

On Wednesday Joshua Uhrich posted $8,000 bail and was released from jail.

Uhrich is currently charged with statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, interfering with the custody of a minor, indecent assault and corrupting the morals of a minor.

05/08/08 - Guilty Plea

Joshua Uhrich has pleaded guilty to charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, interference with the custody of a child and corrupting the morals of a minor.

Uhrich faces between 10 and 20 years in prison owing to a mandatory sentencing law pertaining to adults convicted of having oral or anal sex with a person under 16 years of age.

Uhrich was permitted to remain free on bond pending his formal sentencing in August.

At sentencing, Uhrich’s sex offender classification will be established under Megan’s Law.

08/27/08 - Sentencing

Joshua Uhrich has been sentenced to spend 10 to 20 years in prison.

Uhrich will also be required to undergo sex offender treatment and register as a sex offender. He was not deemed a sexually violent predator.

Uhrich who had been free on bail was taken into custody following the sentencing.

Nicholas E. Salvo, 34, a chemistry teacher at Mt. Lebanon High School in Mt. Leabanon, Pennsylvania has been arrested in an Internet sex sting.

Slavo is accused of using the Internet to send sexually explicit photos to someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl and has been charged with two counts of unlawful contact with a minor, one count of attempted unlawful contact with a minor and two counts of criminal use of a computer.

It is alleged that on July 3rd, Salvo accessed a teen chat room from his home computer and contacted an undercover agent posing as a teenage girl.

Allegedly while chatting with the “girl”, Salvo sent her a private message asking what her measurements were and telling, “I like younger girls.”

It is further alleged that Salvo used a webcam to send to the “girl” videos of his penis and of him masturbating.

Salvo was arrested last night at his home. His computer and related equipment was seized and will undergo forensic analysis.

Following his arraignment Salvo was held in the Allegheny County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

In the wake of Salvo’s arrest, school administrators have placed him on suspension and have banned him from the campus.

Beth Ann Chester, 26, a former gym teacher and volleyball coach at Moon Area High School in Moon Township, Pennsylvania has been arrested and charged with three counts of child sexual abuse, two counts of unlawful contact with a minor, one count of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of criminal solicitation.

It is alleged that Chester sent nude photos of herself and suggestive text messages to a 14-year-old male student.

Reportedly the boy told police that he thought he was in love with Chester and that the only physical contact between the two was a hug just prior to the Christmas break at school.

Chester quit her job a day after being confronted by the boy’s parents after they found messages allegedly from Chester to the boy, messages which suggested a relationship between the teacher and student.

During the course of the investigation police examined the boy’s cell phone and found three photos Chester allegedly sent of herself, including two pictures of her genitals, to the boy.

Chester is being held on $50,000 cash bond and faces up to 58 years in prison if convicted of all charges. Police say they plan to file an additional charge of statutory sexual assault against Chester, which could add another ten years to Chester’s sentence if convicted.

1/07/08 - Chester Admits Sex With Boy

Moon Township police Chief Leo McCarthy said Monday that Chester had admitted having sex with the boy. Chief McCarthy said, “She confessed to having full sexual intercourse with this child in her vehicle in the school parking lot“.

As a result of that alleged admission authorities plan to file additional charges including felony statutory sexual assault.

1/15/08 - Chester Fired

Although Beth Chester submitted a letter of resignation on December 27, the Moon Area School Board voted unanimously to fire Chester during a meeting on Monday.

1/22/08 - Preliminary Hearing Waived

Beth Ann Chester waived a preliminary hearing today on various charged arising from what police described as a sexual relationship with a teenage boy.

Chester’s lawyer said that his client is distraught and in counseling and will go to trial unless a deal can be made with prosecutors prior to trial.

08/20/08 - Guilty Plea and Sentencing

Beth Ann Chester has pleaded guilty to charges of statutory sexual assault, corruption of minors and criminal use of a communication facility.

Chester was sentenced to a term of 18 months to 36 months in jail and was taken from the courtroom to begin serving her sentence.

Reportedly the victim’s family would have agreed to a sentence that did not involve jail time had not Chester continued contacting the victim after her arrest.

Chester has already surrender her teaching license.

Asar Long, 32, a former teacher’s aide at KidsPeace in Salisbury Township. Pennsylvania has been charged with three counts of unlawful contact with a minor.

It is alleged that Long used his cell phone to show three female students a photo of his penis. It is further alleged that he also showed one of the girls a video of him committing a sex act on himself.

Long came to the attention of authorities in November of last year when the girls reported Long’s alleged acts to Salisbury Police.

Reportedly Long’s cell phone was sent to the state police for forensic analysis.

Long was arraigned today and was released on $15,000 bail and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for this month.

KidsPeace, a home for troubled youths, has closed its Salisbury Township school and laid off more than 20 teachers. Earlier the state Department of Public Welfare closed Pennsylvania admissions at KidsPeace after seven youths suffered broken bones while being restrained by counselors.
