Askia Brown, 33, a former assistant track coach at Central Catholic High School in Portland, Oregon has been arrested on charges of second-degree sexual abuse and two counts of third-degree sexual abuse..

It is alleged that Brown improperly touched a 14-year-old girl while he massaged her hamstring at a private track and field club in Portland.
The alleged victim told investigators that as she lay on her stomach that Brown’s hands went under her shorts, under her underwear and he rubbed her genital area for about 10 minutes. The girl also told investigators that when Brown was done he called her a “bad girl” and asked her if she liked it.
Reportedly the girl fled the gym with Brown running after her, warning her not to tell anyone.
The girl eventually went to her father’s office, told him of the alleged sexual assault and police were called.
KOIN reports that:
After police arrested Brown, he admitted to giving the girl a rubdown, and admitted to touching some pubic hair, but denies committing sexual abuse. When Deteictive Brett Hawkinson asked Brown if the crime lab would find Brown’s DNA inside the victim’s vagina, he replied, “I hope not”.
Following his arrest Brown was initially held in lieu of $10,000 bond.
Reportedly Brown left the employ of Central Catholic High School last spring.
Investigators ask that anyone with more information about Brown’s exploits, either during or after he coached for Central Catholic, should call Portland Police.
10/22/08 – More Alleged Victims and More Charges
Two more alleged victims have come forward and five additional charges have been filed against Askia Brown.
Brown is now facing a total counts including two counts of sex abuse in the second degree and six counts of sex abuse in the third degree
09/02/09 – Guilty Verdict On Two Molestation Cases
At the conclusion of a four-week long trial, the jury has found Askia Brown guilty of molesting two teen-age girls and not guilty of molesting a third.
The jury found Brown guilty on six counts of second- and third-degree sexual abuse. Under sentencing guidelines Brown faces slightly more than a year in prison, although the judge has the power to ignore the sentencing guidelines.
