George Reid, 65, of Rochester, New Hampshire, and a former teacher in Rollinsford and Somersworth, a principal in Somersworth and a school superintendent in Rochester and Northwood has been convicted in a jury trial on four charges of sexually assaulting a girl when she was 6 and 7 years old.

Reid was originally charged with five counts of sexually assaulting the girl between Sept. 1, 2003, and May 6, 2004, but one of those charges was dropped following the girl’s testimony in court. The sexual abuse was alleged to have occurred in a hot tub and in the bed in which the girl slept when “staying over” with Reid.

After the jury returned with the guilty verdict, Reid’s lawyer, Mark Sisti, said that the trial was “tragic” and that he will likely appeal the conviction.

Sisti said he doesn’t believe Reid is mentally capable of comprehending the charges against him and had early on in the trial Sisti contended that Reid had no appreciation of the charges against him.

Following his conviction Reid was taken into custody and is currently being held in the county jail awaiting sentencing which will likely take place within two months.

Kevin Goddu, 45, Chelmsford, Mass., a former teacher at Timberlane Regional High School in Plaistow, NH, yesterday waived arraignment on 14 counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault in the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl who is a former student.

Police charge he raped a 16-year-old Plaistow girl, a former student, in Hudson on Feb. 27. Goddu had taught social studies for 12 years at Timberlane but resigned as a result of the allegations against him.

Some of the charges against him allege he used his authority as a teacher to coerce the girl into sex, while others allege he held her down and struck her. Each charge carries up to 10 to 20 years in prison.

Goddu had been a teacher at Timberlane Regional High School for 12 years prior to his resignation last month.

He remains free on $25,000 bond.

Update 7/13/07:

Goddu’s attorney claims in court papers that Gaddu was involved in a “romantic” sexual relationship with the 16-year-old girl and several witnesses will testify to that relationship.

12/04/07 – Jury Deadlocks – Mistrial Declared

After seven hours of deliberation on Friday and Monday jurors in the trial of Kevin Goddu announced that they were deadlocked.

Judge William Groff sent the jury back to continue deliberations and after an additional two hours declared a mistrial as the jury remained deadlocked with seven jurors reported in favor of acquittal and five convinced of Goddu’s guilt.

Assistant County Attorney Patricia LaFrance indicated that she has talked it over with the alleged victim and intends to try Goddu again.

Guddo’s attorney Kenneth Butterworth argued during the course of the trial that the girl had seduced him, and their sexual encounter was consensual.

07/25/07 – Guilty Plea and Sentence

Kevin Goddu in a plea deal with prosecutors has pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor simple assault charges, admitting he engaged in sexual acts with a female student, then 16.

Goddu was sentenced to 12 months in jail, to remain suspended for two years on condition of good behavior.

Although Goddu was ordered to undergo evaluation as a sex offender and abide by any recommended treatment he will NOT be required to register as a sex offender nor will he be required to report to a probation officer.

Under the terms of the plea agreement and sentence, Goddu is prohibited from teaching in New Hampshire.

Gregory Ingalls, 56, a former math teacher at Spaulding High School in Rochester, New Hampshire has been indicted on a charge of felonious sexual assault over allegations dating back to 1984-1985.

The alleged victim, now 38 and a Chicago resident, alleges being sexually assaulted at Ingalls’ apartment in Raymond between 1982 and 1985, when he was between 13 and 15 years old. He came forward with the allegations in April 2007.

Ingalls was arrested at Spaulding High School in April, was suspended following his arrest and resigned in June. Ingalls had worked for the school district since 1982.

Following his arrest Ingalls was released on $20,000 bail and was barred from having contact with a children under the age of 18.

Ingalls is scheduled for an arraignment hearing on August 2nd.

In addition to being a long-time teacher at Spaulding High School in Rochester Ingalls was also a long-time member of the Barrington School Board Member, where he was recently board chairman.

8/02/07 – Arraignment Waived

Gregory Ingalls waived his arraignment scheduled for today and entered a plea of not guilty.

3/08/08 – Guilty Plea

With his trial set to begin, Gregory Ingalls on Friday pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 14-year-old male student in the mid-1980s.

Ingalls was sentenced to 12 months in the Rockingham County House of Corrections with the sentence to begin immediately.
