Gregg Cavaluzzi, a seventh-grade teacher Pelham Middle School in Pelham, New York has reportedly been arrested in an Internet sting after allegedly showing up for what he thought would be a sexual liaison with a 15-year-old girl.

Cavaluzzi was arrested by detectives from the Westchester County police Internet Crimes Squad when he arrived early Sunday at a home where he allegedly thought the 15-year-old girl lived.

Reportedly, Cavaluzzi faces a charge of enticement of a minor for sex.

06/02/09 - Case Update

It is alleged that Cavaluzzi sent sexually explicit messages and photos to the undercover detective he connected with in an online chat room called “FamilyLove”.

It is further alleged that Cavaluzzi was having contact with undercover agents posing as young girls since January, 2008.

Reportedly, Cavaluzzi is suspended without pay from the school system and has tendered his resignation, effective at the end of the current school year.

Gregg Cavaluzzi has reportedly been placed on a jail suicide watch and his attorney has indicated that Cavaluzzi suffers from depression and cocaine addiction.

06/19/09 - Case Update

Federal prosecutors have appealed a magistrate judge’s decision releasing Gregg Cavaluzzi to an in-patient drug treatment center in Tarrytown.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Paul Davison stayed his order when federal prosecutors appealed his bail ruling. Another hearing is set for today before U.S. District Judge Kenneth Karas.

Cavaluzzi’s parents will put up the $90,000 in equity they have in their former Yorktown residence to secure a $100,000 bond for Cavaluzzi’s release into the drug treatment program.

06/19/09 - Case Update

U.S. District Judge Kenneth Karas said today that Cavaluzzi’s alleged conduct that led to his arrest was too disturbing to allow his release into a drug treatment program.

Judge Karas ordered Cavaluzzi sent back to Westchester County Jail, where he has been held since his arrest by Westchester County police on May 31.

06/26/09 - Grand Jury Indictment

Yesterday a federal grand jury indicted Gregg Cavaluzzi on a charge of attempting to coerce a minor for sex.

If convicted, Cavaluzzi faces a sentencing range of from 10 years and a maximum of life in prison.

7/02/09 - Arraignment

Today in U.S. District Court in White Plains, Gregg Cavaluzzi’s attorney Clinton Calhoun entered a not guilty plea on a charge of attempting to coerce a minor for sex.

If convicted, Cavaluzzi faces a minimum of 10 years in prison.

Cavaluzzi, who remains held without bail, is due back in court Tuesday.

Joseph Eugene Council, 32, a former band and choir director at Pass Christian Middle School and Pass Christian High School in Pass Christian, Mississippi has reportedly been arrested on allegations of enticing a 14-year-old female student to send him sexually explicit pictures of herself.

Council is reportedly charged with computer luring of a minor for sexual purposes, enticing a child to produce a visual depiction of sexual conduct and possession of child pornography.

Council came to the attention of authorities when the alleged victim’s mother contacted police with her concerns regarding text messages and Internet messages.

Following his arrest, Council was held in the Harrison County jail in lieu of $75,000 bond.

A school spokesperson has indicated that Council resigned from the school in April and police have indicated that prior to working in Pass Christian schools that Council taught school at St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis in 2006 and 2007.

Police say that the investigation is on-going and ask that anyone with information that could help investigators with this case call the Long Beach Police Department at (228) 863-7292.

07/01/09 - Another Victim, Another Charge

Joseph Eugene Council is facing an additional charge of sexual battery of a victim under the age of 18 after allegedly confessing to a relationship with a second victim.

Allegedly Council confessed to investigators the incident with a then 17-year-old girl during the summer of 2007. Council was her instructor at band camp and the incident allegedly occurred at his home.

Council, who has been held in custody in lieu of $75,000 bail on the first charge, had his bail on the second charge set at $75,000 also.

Aaron M. Ringewold, 26, a substitute teacher at Mike O’Callaghan Middle School in Las Vegas, Nevada has reportedly been arrested on allegations of of possessing child pornography.

Ringewold was arrested in Henderson on Friday and is reportedly charged with 17 counts of possession of child pornography.

Ringewold’s arrest came as the result of an investigation by detectives with the Henderson, Nevada Police Department.

Detectives said Ringewold was downloading child pornography onto his computer, but none of the images were of past or present students at O’Callaghan Middle School, where Ringewold was a “long term” substitute teacher.

Anyone with information that can help in the case is asked to call Henderson Police at 267-4750.
