Brandon Figurski, 20, a former volunteer assistant swim coach at Oxford High School in Oxford, Michigan has reportedly been charged on allegations of sending sexually explicit texts to two 15-year-old female members of the diving team.

Figurski is reportedly charged with felony counts of child sexually abusive activity, using a computer to commit a crime and communicating with another to commit a crime.

It is alleged that Figurski via text message repeatedly asked the students to send him explicit pictures of themselves and discussed having both girls engage in sex acts.

Figurski came to the attention of police when one of the girl’s parents discovered the text messages and turned the phone over to the police. As a result, a computer crime detective assumed the identity of both girls and took over their cell phones.

Oakland County Sheriff’s investigators continued to pose as the teens and set up a meeting with Figurski for August 31. When Figurski went to meet with who he thought would be one of the girls, he was instead confronted by sheriff ’s deputies and arrested.

In September, Figurski was arraigned and his bond was set in the amount of $50,000.

Figurski is being held in the Oakland County Jail in lieu of bond with a pretrial court date set for October 22 and a trial date set for November 5th.

11/30/09 – Guilty Plea and Sentence

On November 19, 2009 Brandon Figurski was sentenced to an intermediate prison term of from two and a half years to ten years.

Michigan Department of Corrections records indicate that Figurski pleaded guilty to all charges.

Darryl A. Peterson Jr, 27, a substitute teacher and coach for New Haven High School in New Haven, Michigan has been charged on allegations of sexually assaulting female students.

Peterson is reportedly charged with three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Peterson came to the attention of authorities late last month by way of a call from someone at the school to police. After an investigation by police, the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office issued warrants for Peterson.

Peterson reportedly turned himself in to police on Monday. Police have not revealed the number of alleged victims or details of the alleged crimes.

Reportedly New Haven Community Schools has ended the district’s contract with Peterson.

Bail for Peterson was set in the amount of $25,000 and conditioned upon him being confined to his home with GPS monitoring.

11/23/09 – No Contest Plea and Sentencing

Darryl Peterson Jr., who pleaded no contest in October to two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, has been sentenced to one year in jail to be followed by five years probation.

In exchange for the plea, three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and one separate count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct were dismissed.

Kenneth D. Hoskins. 32, a former mentor and student advocate with the Grand Rapids Public Schools in Grand Rapids, Michigan who is already facing charges on allegations of sexual misconduct with two 16-year-old female Central High School students has been arrested again on allegations of having contact with one of his past victims in violation of his bond conditions.

In the original cases, Hoskins is charged with the sexual assault of the two 16-years-old students.

In the latest arrest warrant it is alleged that Hoskins and one of the 16-year-old girls were seen together this week at the Brickcrete Motel.

Hoskins is scheduled for an iinitial court appearance today before Judge Dennis Leiber who could set another bond, or order Hoskins to be held in the Kent County Jail until his cases come to trial.

According to WZZM TV, Kenneth D. Hoskins is the son of Reverend Kenneth W. Hoskins a member of the Grand Rapids School Board.

Robert Walter “Bob” Bopp, hockey coach at Grosse Pointe South High School in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan has reportedly been arrested on allegations of sexually assaulting a teenage boy in July, 2008.

Bopp and James Ryan McBee, 19, were arraigned on three counts of felony child sexually abusive activity, one felony count of distributing sexually explicit matter to children and a misdemeanor charge of furnishing alcohol to a minor, according to a press released from Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

It is alleged that Bopp and McBee lured a then 15-year-old Farmington Hills boy to Bopp’s home in Taylor last July and it is further alleged that Bopp plied the boy with alcohol and pornographic pictures and then both men sexually assaulted him.

According to police, the alleged victim is not one of Bopp’s players.

It is further alleged that When Farmington Hills Police, Taylor Police and federal agents arrested Bopp and searched his home in Taylor, Michigan they found a huge stash of pictures and videos with kids involved in sex acts.

At arraignment, both Bopp and McBee reportedly stood mute and District Court. Judge William Sutherland entered pleas of not guilty for both of them.

Bopp, who has reportedly been the head coach at Grosse Pointe South for 16 years and lead the team to a state championship in 2007, has reportedly been suspended by the school.

Both men were reportedly held without bond following arraignment.

Bopp’s next court appearance is reportedly set for June 27th.

07/30/09 – Preliminary Hearing

At the conclusion of the preliminary hearing for Robert Bopp, District Court Judge William Sutherland found probable cause and bound Bopp over to circuit court on multiple counts of sexual assault and child pornography.

James R. McBee was also bound over to circuit court.

Arraignment in circuit court is set for August 6th for both of the accused who are being held without bond in a Wayne County jail.

11/04/09 – Prosecutor Announces Plea Deal

According to prosecutors speaking after a pretrial hearing, Robert Bopp is expected to plead guilty to two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and be sentenced to 17 1/2 to 30 years in prison.

According to Christopher Andreoff, Bopp’s attorney, Bopp is expected to be charged in federal court on the same matter and a plea agreement in that case is being discussed.

11/19/09 – Guilty Plea

Reportedly, Robert Bopp has pleaded guilty in federal court to two counts of producing child pornography and one count of attempting to produce child pornography.

The charges to which Bopp pleaded guilty carry a minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison and as part of the federal charges, Bopp is expected to forfeit his home and his 2008 Ford Escape, both allegedly used to commit his crimes.
