Stephen Chromik, 25, a former teacher and soccer coach at Metamora High School in Metamora, Illinois has been arrested and charged with criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

It is alleged that Chromik had sex with a student between the ages of 14 to 16 in May of this year.

Following his arrest Chromik was being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Reportedly Chromik’s case will be referred to a grand jury.

Chromik no longer works for the school, reportedly having resigned in July and moved from the area.

At the time of his arrest, Chromik was on probation for a felony aggravated assault case from Tennessee, a case which was pled down from a sexual battery charge. As a result of the Tennessee case Chromik was reportedly placed on five years’ probation beginning in 2005 and his probation was transferred to Peoria County, Illinois.

A preliminary hearing for Chromik has been set for October 2nd.

If convicted, Chromik could face between 4 and 20 years in prison.

Nathan Wesley Hallman, 24, a social studies teacher and assistant coach at Demopolis High School in Demopolis, Alabama has been arrested on charges of rape in the second degree and enticing a child for immoral purposes.

It is alleged that an inappropriate relationship existed between Hallan and a student.

On Wednesday, Hallman surrended to Demopolis police. He was transported to the Marengo County Detention Center and was subsequently released on $10,000 bail.

When the accusations were initially made to school officials, Hallman submitted his resignation to both the school principal and superintendent, neither of whom could accept it. Hallman’s employment status will be reviewed by the school board at its next meeting on March 24th.

06/11/08 - Grand Jury Indictment

A Marengo County grand jury has indicted Nathan Hallman on charges of second-degree rape and enticing a child for immoral purposes.

His arraignment is set for August 26th.

08/28/08 - Arraignment Waived

Nathan Hallman, through his attorney, has waived his arraignment.

Reportedly a plea deal may be in the works.

Anthony Spahr, 28, a former assistant band director at Milton-Union High School in West Milton, Ohio has been indicted on one count of sexual battery on allegations that he had a sexual relationship with a band member.

In early October school officials received an anonymous tip that Spahr was involved in inappropriate relationship with a student.

Following an investigation by the school resource officer, Spahr resigned in October at the request of school officials.

Last week a Miami County grand jury indicted Spahr on the single count of sexual battery.

He was arrested at his home on Tuesday and is reportedly being held in the Miami County Jail.

If convicted Spahr is facing up to five years in prison.

12/17/07 - Not Guilty Plea

Last Thursday Anthony Spahr entered a not guilty plea on one count of sexual battery for alleged sexual conduct this summer with a 17-year-old girl in West Milton. Bail was set at $10,000. Spahr is already on $20,000 bail on another count of sexual battery alleging a 16-year-old female victim.

04/12/08 - No Contest Pleas

Anthony Spahr, in a plea deal with prosecutors has entered no contest pleas to two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

In exchange for the plea the state reduced the original sexual battery charges to unlawful sexual conduct charges and will make no sentencing recommendation.

Sentencing is set for June 3rd and Spahr faces a maximum of three years in prison.

04/25/08 - Spahr Seeks To Withdraw Plea

Anthony Spahr is seeking to withdraw his no contest pleas now that the school resource officer and case investigating officer, Miami County Sheriff’s Deputy Bryce Adams has been suspended and is under investigation for “inappropriate behavior” with a 17-year-old girl from Newton High School.

Prosecutors have announced they will not fight Spahr’s request to withdraw his pleas which were made before the Deputy was suspended and the allegations against him became public. Deputy Adams was the primary investigating officer in Spahr’s case.

A now 20-year-old woman has come forward with the allegation that Adams had a sexual relationship with her when she was 17-years-old in October 2005. The woman alleges the sexual activity took place on school property.

07/19/08 - Sentencing

On Friday, Anthony Spahr was sentenced to two years in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender for a period of 15 years.

At Spahr’s sentencing, the mother of one of the victims said, “You not only stole her virginity, but you also stole her innocence. You took away the spring in her step, the sparkle in her eye. You ruined her senior year of high school.” The victim’s mother also said that there was no sentence “long enough” for Spahr.

Spahr was sentenced to one year on each of two counts of attempted gross sexual imposition. The judge order the sentences to run consecutively, the maximum punishment allowed by law.

Richard Young, 68, a debate teacher and coach at Buhler High School in Buhler, Kansas has been arrested and charged with three counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and one count of indecent solicitation of a child.

It is alleged that Young had a sexual relationship with a foreign-exchange student in August 2007.

Bond for Young was set at $75,000 and he has an initial court appearance set for tomorrow.

Young who has been suspended with pay since November is the second Buhler High School employee charged with having a sexual relationship with a student this school year. Anthony Coker is the other.

05/01/08 - Charges Upgraded, Preliminary Hearing Set

Prosecutors upgraded the charges to three counts of aggravated indecent liberties, instead of the lesser indecent liberties with a child.

A preliminary hearing is set for June 4th at the request of prosecutors who want to get the testimony of alleged victim on record in case the victim returns to Korea before trial.

06/05/08 - Preliminary Hearing

A preliminary hearing was held for Richard Young and the prosecution presented evidence Richard Young has a history of making sexual advances toward exchange students.

A law enforcement computer expert testified he found 44 websites for gay Asian teenage pornography on Young’s computer that predates August 1st, 2007, the day the accuser arrived in the United States.

Following the preliminary hearing Young was bound over for trial.

His arraignment is set for July 7th.

07/18/08 - Court Hearing

Richard Young appeared for a hearing today and entered a plea of not guilty and requested a jury trial.

A trial date has not been set.

Charles Elsbury Whedbee, 41, a social studies teacher at Pasquotank County High School in Elizabeth City, North Carolina has reportedly been arrested and charged with three counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor.

Whedbee allegedly was involved in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female student.

Following his arrest, Whedbee was reportedly being held in the Albemarle District Jail with bond set at $30,000.

06/30/08 - Case Update

A Pasquotank County grand jury returned bills of indictment against Charles Whedbee increasing the severity of the the felony counts of indecent liberties.

When Whedbee was originally arrested he was charged with three class I felonies. Those charges have now been elevated to class F felonies which entail a more severe punishment range if convicted.

Following the grans jury indictment Whedbee was arrested again on the new charges and held in the Albemarle District Jail with bond set at $32,500.
