James Carnegie, 65, of Silverdale, Washington, a substitute teacher who worked in Bremerton and Central Kitsap schools has been charged with first-degree child molestation.

Carnegie made an appearance in Kitsap County Superior Court yesterday.

Reportedly Carnegie is being held in the Kitsap County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Carnegie is accused of molesting a young girl who was known to him on December 29th in a home in Bremerton.

Shelton Gary Hill, 31, an English teacher who served as a yearbook adviser and assistant boys’ basketball coach at Canyon Springs High School in Moreno Valley, California has been arrested on suspicion of multiple counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.

Hill is suspected of having a sexual relationship for several months with a 16-year-old female student he taught in the yearbook class last year.

Hill came to the attention of authorities when the girl’s parents told school district officials and police of the alleged relationship earlier this week.

When police searched Hill’s apartment they said it appeared “he left in a hasty departure”. Hill was found at a motel in Gardena.

The school district did not renew Hill’s contract and he is no longer an employee of the school system.

01/06/08 - Guilty Plea and Sentencing

Shelton Hill, originally charged with three counts of Unlawful Intercourse With a Minor, one count of Oral Copulation with a person under 18-years-old and one count of Lewd Act With Force Violence Duress pleaded guilty in December to a the felony count of oral copulation with a person under 18-years-old.

As part of the plea deal all other charges were dismissed.

Hill has been sentenced to 16 months in prison and was held in the Robert Presley Detention Center awaiting transfer to Kern Valley State Prison in Delano.

Edgar A. Berry, 38, the band leader at Olmsted Falls High School in Olmsted Falls, Ohio has been charged with sexual battery on allegations that he had sexual contact with a female band member.

Berry was arrested by Olmsted Township police on Tuesday and was arraigned in Berea Municipal Court Wednesday morning on charges of sexual battery and was reportedly being held on $500,000 bond with a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

According to a school system spokesperson, Berry was placed on leave December 18 after a student told a school counselor about the allegation and some text messages.

Reportedly Berry called off sick December 18. The last day of school before the holiday break was December 19 and the student and her parents met with police the next day. The school system provided parents a letter explaining the situation.

01/06/08 - Case Update

A report in the Sandusky Register reveals problems school administrators allegedly had with Edgar Berry while Berry was employed by Bay Village Schools including alleged improper behavior toward a pair of female high school students.

In addition the same report reveals that school officials in harsh terms criticized Berry for his absences, attitude when teaching and closeness to some students.

In another report, 19 Action News, reports that it has learned the Berry was previously warned for talking dirty to students.
