Robert C. Hawkins, a former math teacher at Council Rock South High School in in Holland, Pennsylvania has reportedly been arrested on allegations of having sex with a 17-year-old female student.

Hawkins has reportedly been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and corruption of a minor.

It is alleged that Hawkins engaged in a five-month sexual relationship with the girl. It is further alleged that the two engaged in sex numerous times at Hawkins’ home, from December to April

It is also alleged that Hawkins had showed the girl sexually explicit pictures on his laptop of another female student at Council Rock South.

Some news media reports indicate that Hawkins came to the attention of authorities when the alleged victim contacted police in late June.

Other reports indicate that a friend of the girl alerted authorities who then started an investigation into the allegations.

Following his arrest, Hawkins was released after posting bail in the amount of 10 percent of $500,000. His bail is conditioned upon his not having contact with the alleged victim or any other minors and he must stay away from all Council Rock schools.

Reportedly, the school district fired Hawkins after the girl contacted police in June.

Investigators say that several Council Rock South teachers were aware of the alleged relationship between Hawkins and the girl and that they looked the other way. As a result, one teacher resigned and two more teachers have been suspended and are facing termination.

If convicted, Hawkins could be sentenced more than seven years in prison.

11/18/09 – Guilty Plea

Reportedly, Robert Hawkins has pleaded guilty to one felony count of endangering the welfare of children and one misdemeanor count of corrupting minors.

The felony count carries a maximum sentence of up to seven years in prison.

Reportedly, Chief Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Schorn asked Hawkins whether other teachers had known, but failed to disclose to authorities, Hawkins’ relationship with the gir and whether other teachers had helped him cover up his crimes. Hawkins refused to answer the questions, asserting his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.

03/10/10 – Sentencing

Robert Hawkins has been sentenced to 11-1/2 to 23 months in prison.

Hawkins’ teaching license was revoked and as part of the sentence he was ordered to pay $540 a month in restitution, the cost of the girl’s therapy bills for the entire four years she’s in college.

Adrian Ellis, 30, an art teacher at John Handley High School in Winchester, Virginia has reportedly been arrested on allegations of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a female student.

Reportedly, Ellis is charged with four counts of indecent liberties with a child under the age of 18.

It is alleged that on several occasions between November 2008 and March 2009 that Ellis had an inappropriate sexual relationship with the alleged victim at various locations both inside and outside of the school.

Ellis came to the attention of police when school administrators contacted police on February 26th in regard to alleged inappropriate behavior between Ellis and students. Winchester Police began an investigation which resulted in a criminal complaint being filed Wednesday morning in Winchester Juvenile and Domestic Court.

Reportedly, Ellis turned himself in to the custody of Winchester Police and was subsequently released on $15,000 secured bond with a scheduled court date of April 21.

Andrew J. Burke, 37, a band teacher at Montrose High School in Montrose, Colorado has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault of a 17-year-old student.

Burke is being held on suspicion of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust on allegations that he had sexual contact with student sometime between December 2007 and August 2008.

Burke came to the attention of police after a school administrator was informed of the allegations.

Burke, who has reportedly worked for the school district since 2001, has been placed on paid administrative leave by the school system.

Following his arrest on Wednesday, Burke was reportedly being held without bond at the Montrose County jail.

06/06/09 – Case Update

KJCT TV reports that the 17-year-old alleged victim was a senior and that Burke was a good friend of her family’s.

Reportedly, the girl also told police that the relationship started during a trip to Disneyland over spring break.

11/24/09 – Trial Date Set

Andrew Burke has been ordered to stand trial on allegations of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust.

His trial has been set for April 26, 2010.

03/10/10 – Guilty Plea and Sentencing

In a plea deal with prosecutors, Andrew Burke has reportedly pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault on a child in exchange for the more serious charge of sexual assault on a child by one in a position being dropped.

Burke was reportedly sentenced to three years supervised probation, mandatory sex-offender treatment and registration as a sex offender for at least 10 years.

Clifton Golden, 59, a teacher at Hobbs Freshman School in Hobbs, New Mexico has reportedly been arrested on allegations of inappropriately touching a 14-year-old female student.

Reportedly, Golden is charged with criminal sexual contact with a minor.

It is alleged that Golden put his hands on a girl’s breast after she and a boy were “playfighting” in class at Hobbs Freshman School back on February 19th.

Golden came to the attention of authorities on February 20th when the mother of the alleged victim called to complain.

Golden turned himself in to police last Friday and subsequently posted $3,000 bond and was released from custody.

Reportedly, Golden, who lives in Odessa, Texas taught at Hood Junior High for 3 1/2 years and retired in December. Since retirement, Golden reportedly drives to Hobbs every day to teach at the freshman school.

Robert E. Bennett Jr., 44, a basketball coach at North Marion Middle School in Citra, Florida has reportedly been arrested on allegations of having sexual contact with a 13-year-old female student.

Reportedly, Bennett is charged with sexual battery by a person with custodial authority.

Bennett came to the attention of authorities when the teenage girl’s mother allegedly found a note where her daughter talked about having sex with Bennett.

It is alleged that Bennett groped the alleged victim and forced her to touch him.

Reportedly, it is alleged that the girl told investigators Bennett called her out of class to his office, started kissing her, touching her and made her lay down on the floor by the door and fondle him.

A spokesperson for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office stated that there was sexual contact between Bennett and the alleged victim on at least two occasions.
