Larry Eugene Tindell, 48, a teacher at W.S. Neal High School in East Brewton, Alabama and an instructor at Jefferson Davis Community College has been arrested, first on drug charges and subsequently on child pornography charges.
Tindell was arrested Tuesday on a grand jury indictment for possession and distribution of a controlled substance, believed to be Lortab.
As an outgrowth of the drug investigation investigators executed a search warrant at Tindell’s home and it is alleged that there they found pornographic pictures of boys and girls under the age of 17.
Investigators believe the pictures were ordered online or from a magazine, and they do not appear to involve any local children.
A second search warrant was executed at Tindell’s office at the school. No illicit pictures were found on the school computer however it was confiscated and turned over to the FBI for examination.
Tindell’s bond is set at $425,000 for three counts of child pornography, one count of distrubuting a controlled substance and one count of possessing a controlled substance.

James Nash, 44, a former social studies teacher at Doyle Middle School in Troy, New York has reportedly pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to charges alleging possession of child pornography.
In a written plea agreement, Nash reportedly admitted using his school district laptop computer between October 8, 2008 and February 3, 2009 to search for child pornography and to visit child pornography sites where he accessed images and videos depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
On February 3, 2009 Nash turned over his district laptop to the school district’s IT department which allegedly discovered illegal images stored on the computer. The IT Department then authorized the FBI to conduct a forensic examination of Nash’s laptop. That investigation resulted in Nash being charged with possession of child pornography.
Reportedly, Nash admitted a years long interest in child pornography and that his interests were in children between the ages of 14 and 16-years-old.
Following his guilty plea, Nash was released pending sentencing, which is set for January 10th.
Nash faces up to 10 years in prison.

Thomas Calvin Vickers, 42, a history teacher at Moorhead Junior High in Conroe, Texas has reportedly been arrested on allegations of online solicitation of a minor.
Reportedly, Vickers is charged with two counts of enticing a child and one count of promotion of child pornography.
Investigators with the Harris County Precinct 4 High Tech Crime Division and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force allege that Vickers entered into an online chat with an undercover officer, who was posing as a 14-year-old girl.
It is further alleged that Vickers displayed lewd images of himself and solicited the officer for sex. Investigators said Vickers also displayed lewd images of what appeared to be juvenile females to the undercover officer.

Steven Kenneth Derlacki, 28, a second and third grade teacher at Fullerton IV Elementary School in West Roseburg, Oregon has reportedly been arrested on allegations of possessing child pornography.
Derlacki was arrested on July 4th supposedly on 500 counts of First Degree Encouraging the Sexual Abuse of a Child.
Reportedly, Derlacki is currently facing four felony counts of encouraging child sex abuse, two in the 1st degree, and two in the second degree.
Derlacki came to the attention of police, on July 4, they received information that Derlacki may have files containing child pornography on his laptop computer.
Reportedly officers contacted Derlacki at his residence and got consent to search the files on his computer. Police allege that they discovered more than 500 files containing images or video of children involved in sexual activity.
Following his arrest, Derlacki was reportedly being held in the Douglas County Jail in lieu of bail.
According to a statement released by Roseburg Public Schools, Derlacki is not allowed on school property during the course of the legal investigation.

Justin W. Lewis, 40, a seventh-grade teacher at Katy Junior High in Katy, Texas has reportedly been arrested on allegations of distributing child pornography.
Reportedly, Lewis was arrested by Houston police and turned over to federal authorities on two counts of distributing child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography.
According to a Federal criminal complaint, Lewis made child porn available to others through the use of peer-to-peer software linked to his home computer.
It is alleged that investigating agents downloaded multiple images of child pornography from Lewis via the software which included children under the age of 12 being sexually violated by adults, children under the age of 12 in positions which caused their genitalia to be displayed in a lewd/lascivious manner, as well a child being penetrated by a foreign object.
If convicted, Lewis could face between five and twenty years in federal prison on each count.
Reportedly, the school system has placed Lewis on administrative leave and a school spokesperson has indicated that Lewis faces dismissal.

John Edward Thomas, 28, who for the past three years at Horace Mann School in New York City and was to begin teaching fifth grade at the Bank Street School for Children in the fall has been arrested on allegations of possessing child pornography.
Reportedly, Thomas was charged with one count of possessing child pornography and faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.
Reportedly, Thomas is also accused of swapping images with others.
Agents of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Office of Homeland Security Investigations seized 43 CDs allegedly containing at least six videos of minor children engaging in sexually explicit conduct during a search of Thomas’ home on Wednesday.
