Valynne Asay Bowers, 39, a math teacher at Bountiful Junior High School in Bountiful, Utah has been arrested on allegations that she had a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old male student.

Bowers came to the attention of police when another teacher at Bountiful Junior High School went to her supervisor and reported that she had been having sex with a male student.

That teacher, Linda Richins Nef, then implicated Bowers, saying that Bowers had been having sex with the same boy since December, 2008.

As a result, Valynne Bowers was arrested Thursday night on charges of forcible sodomy of a child and child rape.

The Linda Richins Nef was expected to arrested today.

Officials say the alleged crimes involving Bowers happened at Bowers’ home since December of 2008.

Reportedly the boy was 13 when the sexual activity allegedly began and is now 14-years-old.

Bowers appeared in court Friday afternoon and her bail was set at $20,000.

Richard Angulo, 34, a math teacher and freshman baseball coach at Centennial High School in Corona, California has been arrested on two counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child younger than 14 and two counts of continued sexual abuse of a child younger than 14.

It is alleged that Angulo molested a boy whom he met at church for over ten years with the molestation starting in 1994.

The alleged victim, tipped Corona police to the alleged molestation which then led police to other another alleged victim. Investigators say that Angulo met secondary victims through the first alleged victim and the investigation is continuing. Investigators believe there are other victims that have not yet come forward.

Angulo was arrested on Monday and subsequently released on $150,000 bail. On Tuesday he was arrested again when his bail was increased to $1 million.

Angulo is set for arraignment today.

Angulo is the second Centennial High School teacher arrested on sex charges within a year. Last August, Brad Jason Theobald was arrested on allegations that he had sex with a 17-year-old female student.

02/22/10 – Guilty Verdict

Last week the jury in the trial of Richard Angulo found him guilty on 12 felony counts of lewd acts with a child and battery and eight misdemeanor counts of assault for incidents that occurred in the mid-1990s with three boys he met through Corona’s Crossroads Christian Church.

Angulo faces up to 150 years in prison at sentencing.

Kenneth Shadoan, 30, a algebra and math teacher at Paris High School, in Paris, Kentucky has been arrested on allegations of possession of child pornography.

Reportedly, Shadoan is charged with 25 counts of possession of child pornography.

It is alleged that Shadoan received pictures of a 17-year-old boy in exchange for grades and that those pictures allegedly portrayed a sex performance by a minor.

Shadoan was arrested on Wednesday night and was reportedly being held at the Bourbon County Detention Center on a $50,000 full cash bond.

Shadoan came to the attention of police who received a complaint Monday from a parent who said her 17 year-old son had received “inappropriate communication” from Shadoan.

Police obtained a search warrant for Shadoan’s residence and vehicle and allegedly found and seized evidence to support the 25 counts of possession of child pornography.

A school spokesperson indicated that Shadoan, in his third year at the school, is not a tenured teacher and that his contract would not be renewed at the end of the current school year.

11/10/09 – Guilty Plea

Reportedly, Kenneth Shadoan has pleaded guilty on two counts of possessing one or more matters that contained visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

In addition, Shadoan also pleaded guilty to a forfeiture count which requires him to surrender his computer and associated software.

Sentencing is set for February 11th and Shadoan reportedly faces up to 10 years in federal prison on each count.

02/11/10 – Sentencing

Kenneth Shadoan has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

Once released from prison, Shadoan will spend a lifetime on supervised release.
