Guilty!

(4/01/08 - Initial BBT Report)

Jennifer Candida Gonzales, 32, a fifth and sixth-grade teacher for students with behavioral problems at Mount Nebo Junior High School in Payson, Utah has been arrested on allegations of sexual conduct with a 16-year-old and sexual relations with a youth.

Reportedly the alleged victim, a 16-year-old boy is not a student of Gonzales.

Gonzales came to the attention of authorities when she called Payson police and told them her husband pointed a 9mm handgun at her and the boy and threatened to kill her after he caught her cheating on him with the teen.

Richard Gonzales was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated assault with domestic violence, and criminal mischief.

Jennifer Gonzales was released from jail on $10,000 bail and has been placed on paid administrative leave by the school system.

According to jail records, Richard Gonzales remains jailed in lieu of $20,000 bond.

06/04/08 - Guilty Plea To Reduced Charges

Jennifer Gonzales has pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted forcible sexual abuse, a third-degree felony.

While the crimes to which she pleaded guilty carry a punishment of up to 5 years in prison, Deputy County Attorney Mariane O’Bryant doubts Gonzales will serve any jail time.

Gonzales will be required to register as a sex offender.

Formal sentencing for Jennifer Gonzales is scheduled for July 28th.

06/14/08 - Richard Gonzales - Guilty Plea

Richard Gonzales has agreed to plead guilty to a class A misdemeanor of using or displaying a dangerous weapon in a fight if state prosecutors would drop a felony aggravated assault charge.

His sentencing is set for July 10th.

07/28/08 - Jennifer Gonzales Sentencing

Jennifer Gonzales has been sentenced to 180 days in jail.

She was also placed on to 36 months of probation and ordered to complete a sex offender treatment program.

Last month Richard Gonzales was reportedly sentenced to 18 months probation.

Charges Dismissed

Gerard Schrader, 56, a language arts teacher at Barstow Junior High School, in Barstow, California has been arrested on charges involving child molestation.

Schrader is accused of committing a lewd act on or with a child under 14-years-old and committing a lewd act with a child aged between 14- and 15-years-old.

Schrader came to the attention of authorities by way of complaints from female students to the school administration.

After an initial investigation by school officials the investigation was turned over to the police.

Schrader has been placed on leave from his position until the case is resolved.

The investigation is on-going.

07/26/08 - No Charges

The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office had declined filing charges against Gerard Schrader.

Reportedly the school district will approach Schrader about resuming his employment once the district is officially notified that no charges will be filed against him.

Guilty!

Randy Sayler, 46, a volunteer ninth-grade football coach at West Valley Junior High in Yakima, Washington, already jailed on child rape charges, was arraigned Tuesday on charges of molesting two other boys.

In September 2007 Sayler was charged with two counts of second-degree child rape of a 13-year-old boy.

On Tuesday, Sayler was charged with one count of second-degree child molestation, two counts of second-degree rape, and one count of voyeurism in allegations alleging two addition male victims.

One of the latest alleged victims, a boy now 15, has told authorities that Sayler molested him from the time he was 12-years-old.

In addition to coaching basketball and football teams, Sayler also coached a soccer team and led a traveling baseball team.

The alleged sexual assaults on players reportedly took place either at Sayler’s home or on road trips.

In one instances it is alleged that one of the assaults took place while the boy was sleeping in the same hotel room with his father, Sayler, and Sayler’s two sons.

Following the latest charges against Sayler, he is now being held in the Yakima County Jail on bonds totaling $2.2 million.

Sayler’s wife filed for divorce following his arrest in September.

05/09/08 - Guilty Plea

Randy Sayler has pleaded guilty to five counts of second-degree child rape, one count of third-degree child rape, one count of second-degree child molestation, one count of third-degree child molestation and one count of voyeurism. Sayler also entered an Alford plea (no contest) to one count of first-degree child molestation.

The pleas are to crimes committed against three boys, two 13-year-olds and one 15-year-old.

Sayler faces a minimum prison sentence of 23 years when sentenced on July 25th.

07/26/08 - Sentencing

In Yakima County Superior Court on Friday, Randy Sayler was sentenced to a minimum of 23 years in prison.

The judge indicated that this sentence was the maximum he was permitted by law to impose. The judge told Sayler that he did not know if Sayler would ever get out of prison as that would be up to a state review board.

Sayler, now 46, will be 69 years old before he is eligible to request parole.

William R. Thompson, 55, a science teacher at North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo, Washington has been charged on allegations that he made advances and eventually kissed a 15-year-old girl during tutoring sessions.

Although Thompson taught at North Kitsap High School last year he was a teacher at Poulsbo Junior High School when the alleged incidents occurred.

Thompson has been arraigned on one count of fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation and one count of communication with a minor for immoral purposes. Both charges are gross misdemeanors and both are punishable by up to a year in jail.

Thompson appeared in court after being summoned. He has not been arrested and was not jailed.

Richard Prusha, a former teacher at Harrison Junior High School in Scio, Ohio has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespassing and has been sentenced under a last-minute plea bargain with prosecutors.

At the time of the plea deal Prusha was on the verge of trial on a fourth-degree felony menacing by stalking charge on allegations of placing “love letters” and gifts into a then 13-year-old girl’s locker at Harrison Junior High School in April of 2007.

As a result of the no contest plea Harrison County Common Pleas Court judge Michael Nunner sentenced Prusha to a suspended 30 days in the county jail, a $250 fine and 18 months probation.

Prusha must pay $300 in restitution to the victim and undergo a counseling evaluation.

The Harrison Hills School District turned over information regarding Prusha’s actions to the Ohio Department of Education and its Office of Professional Conduct for review. It is expected that a decision on Prusha’s teaching license will be made in September.
