James C. Love, 37, of Bloomington, Illinois a substitute teacher for Bloomington and Normal, Illinois schools and a minister at Bloomington’s Mount Pisgah Baptist Church has been set for trial on July 16 on four counts of aggravated battery and four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Love is alleged to have sedated and sexually abused four teenage boys at his home earlier this year.

Reportedly Love is married and has a 14-year-old son.

Love remains jailed in lieu of $40,000 bail and a pre-trial hearing is set for July 12th.

7/12/07 - Trial Delayed

The trial for James C. Love set for July 16th has been delayed owing to delays in obtaining necessary DNA testing results and production of evidence to the defense. There is no new trial date set at this time, although a status hearing is scheduled for August 21st.

Love remains in jail in lieu of paying the $40,000 bail.

11/21/07 - State Trial Delayed Till Feds Are Done

McLean County Circuit Court Judge Kevin Fitzgerald has granted a request for a delay in Jame Love’s trial on state charges until such time as the federal charges are settled.

The judge also authorized supervised visits between Love and his 14-year-old son.

2/08/08 - Federal Trial Delayed

The federal trial of James C. Love, scheduled for February 25th, has been delayed so that Love can be evaluated at a medical facility in the prison system.

07/18/08 - Competent For Trial

James Love has been found competent to stand trial on federal child pornography charges.

Love is scheduled to stand trial in October.

09/30/08 - Guilty Plea To Child Pornography

James Love pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to child pornography charges.

Love will serve 20 years in federal prison and be be on supervised release for life once he completes his prison sentence.

All other charges against Love were dropped as part of the plea deal.

The plea to the child pornography count was for taking explicit photos of boys after he drugged and molested them at his Bloomington home last year.

Daniel Scott Markofski, 47, the principal of Spring Grove Elementary School in Spring Grove, Illinois has been arrested and charged with two counts of exposing a child to harmful material and sexual intercourse with a child age 16 or older.

Markofski allegedly took two teenage girls to a Wisconsin motel for pornographic movies, marijuana, cognac and sex over the weekend. It is further alleged that Markofski had sex with the 16-year-old while the 15-year-old was in the room.

Police say that Markofski accompanied by 15- and 16-year-old Wisconsin girls, ordered a porn movie after entering the Glendale, Wisconsin motel room. Authorities said the principal also provided wine coolers, marijuana and cognac to the girls who are reportedly from the Milwaukee area, rather than the Chicago-Spring Grove area.

It is alleged that Markofski met the 16-year-old girl through a phone chat line. Reportedly the 15-year-old is her cousin.

Markofski came to the attention of authorities when a Glendale, Wisconsin police officer on a routine community patrol was walking through the motel when he smelled marijuana coming from a room. When the officer entered the room he allegedly found a a boxer shorts-clad Markofski, the two girls and a porno playing loudly on the television.

Markofski was being held on $20,000 bond at the Milwaukee County Jail.

04/18/08 - Court Appearance

Daniel Markofski made a court appearance today and pleaded not guilty.

Markofski is free on $5,000 bond.

Nippersink District 2 school board fired Markofski on Tuesday.

09/16/08 - Guilty Plea

Daniel Markofski has pleaded guilty to two counts of exposing a child to harmful material and one of committing a sex act with a child 16 or older.

Sentencing is set for October 29th.

Ronald D. Suitts, 56, a former German teacher at Larkin High School in Elgin, Illinois has been arrested and charged with criminal sexual assault on allegations of a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old female student.

The arrest is the result of a three month investigation conducted by Elgin Police after a now 22-year-old woman came forward alleging that Suitts carried on a relationship with the her from the fall of 2002 until the fall 2003.

During the course of the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant permitting them to overhear and record conversations between Suitts and the alleged victim.

Bail for Suitts has been set in the amount of $100,000.

If convicted, Suitts faces up to 15 years in prison.

News media reports indicate that in July, 2005 Roand D. Suitts was arrested on allegations of sexually abusing a 15-year-old female student at the school.

Originally he was charged with four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for acts investigators say took place from Jan. 1, 2001, to July 1, 2004.

In January, 2007 it is reported that Suitts, in a plea deal, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery and was sentenced to two years strict probation, barred from teaching in Illinois classrooms and required to give up his teaching certificate.

Bond Set For Teacher Accused Of Sexual Assault (09/16/08)

Stephen Chromik, 25, a former teacher and soccer coach at Metamora High School in Metamora, Illinois has been arrested and charged with criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

It is alleged that Chromik had sex with a student between the ages of 14 to 16 in May of this year.

Following his arrest Chromik was being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Reportedly Chromik’s case will be referred to a grand jury.

Chromik no longer works for the school, reportedly having resigned in July and moved from the area.

At the time of his arrest, Chromik was on probation for a felony aggravated assault case from Tennessee, a case which was pled down from a sexual battery charge. As a result of the Tennessee case Chromik was reportedly placed on five years’ probation beginning in 2005 and his probation was transferred to Peoria County, Illinois.

A preliminary hearing for Chromik has been set for October 2nd.

If convicted, Chromik could face between 4 and 20 years in prison.

Scott M. Brown, a former physical education teacher and girls’ volleyball coach at McArthur High School in Decatur, Illinois has been charged with five counts of possessing child pornography with intent to disseminate.

It is alleged that Brown possessed computer video files that include images of underage girls having sex.

Reportedly Brown was arrested at his home July 18th and subsequently was released from jail on $2,000 bail.

Brown has reportedly been placed on paid administrative leave by the school system.
