Matthew Martin Tillman, 33, a history teacher and girls’ volleyball coach at Spring High School in Spring, Texas has reportedly been arrested on allegations of having an improper relationship with a 17-year-old female student.

Tillman is reportedly charged with three felonies including two counts of improper relationship with a student and improper contact based on text messages investigators allegedly found on cell phones.

The alleged incidents are said to have occurred between May 1 and September 24th of this year.

Matthew Tillman, who has reportedly worked at the school for ten years, is reportedly on paid administrative leave from the school system.

Tillman made an initial court appearance on Monday morning before District Judge Mike Anderson who reduced Tillman’s bond from $150,000 to $60,000. Following his court appearance, Tillman was released on bond.

If convicted, Tillman faces from two to twenty years in prison on each felony count.

Tillman is the second Spring High School teacher to face criminal charges in less than thirty days. Deanna Higgins was charged on October 12th with having an improper relationship with a 16-year-old student and sexual assault of a child.

In light of the allegations against Tillman and Higgins, prosecutors are asking parents of Spring High School students during the past 10 years to talk to their children about inappropriate behavior and request that anyone with similar complaints against Tillman contact the Harris County District Attorney’s office at 713-755-5800.

Amy Northcutt, 26, a former history teacher at Turlock Christian School in Turlock, California along with husband Justin Northcutt was arrested in early June on suspicion of distribution or exhibition of lewd material to a minor and annoying or molesting a child under 18.

The Northcutts are alleged to have sent sexually explicit cell phone messages and photos to a 16-year-old female student in an effort to arrange group sex with the girl.

The Stanislaus County district attorney’s office indicated on Tuesday that the Northcutts will face criminal charges although the exact nature of the charges was not revealed.

The Northcutts came to the attention of authorities by way of the girl’s mother, reportedly after Justin Northcutt was spotted talking to the alleged victim while she attended a family gathering.

Following her arrest Amy Northcutt was released on $10,000 bail.

Reportedly Amy Northcutt resigned from the school prior to her attest.

07/31/08 – Felony Charge Filed

According to the Modesto Bee, the Northcutts have been each been charged with a single felony count of “harmful matter sent with intent of seduction of a minor”.

The Northcutts are scheduled for arraignment on September 3rd.

10/09/08 – Court Appearance

Justin and Amy Northcutt made a court appearance yesterday and entered not guilty pleas on individual felony counts of harmful matter sent with intent of seduction of a minor.

The Northcutts are scheduled to be back in court on December 17.

12/17/08 – Amy Northcutt Misses Court Date

Amy Northcutt was scheduled to be in court today but was absent.

Northcutt’s attorney told the judge that she recently gave birth to a baby and couldn’t appear in court today.

Judge Timothy Salter set the couple’s next court date for February 27.

10/02/09 – No Contest Plea

Amy Northcutt has pleaded no contest in Stanislaus County Superior Court to felony charges after being accused of trying to arrange group sex with a 16-year-old student.

Under the terms of the plea deal, Amy Northcutt pleaded no contest to one felony count of “harmful matter sent with intent of seduction of a minor” and will serve two months in jail.

She will be required to register as a sex offender.

The Northcutts will be eligible to have their charges reduced to misdemeanors after three years on probation.

10/28/09 – Formal Sentencing

Amy Northcutt has been sentenced to two months in jail, ordered to register as sex offender and attend sex offender counseling and stay away from the victim.

Northcutt must report to jail by the end of November.

John Robert James Cody, 39, a history teacher at Pine View High School in St. George, Utah has reportedly been arrested on allegations of the sexual abuse of three females, ages 18, 15 and 12-years-old.

Reportedly, Cody was arrested on Friday and was booked on two counts of sexual abuse of a child, lewdness and attempted sexual abuse.

It is alleged that “there was some kind of incident” involving Cody and the alleged victims during the time frame from June 2008 and August 2009.

Following his arrest and booking, Cody was reportedly freed on $26,850 bond.

The alleged incidents are reported to have taken place at the Coral Canyon Club House and the alleged victims are not Cody’s students.

A school system spokesperson has indicated that Cody has taught at Pine View High School for about ten years and has been placed on administrative leave.

10/14/09 – Case Update

Reportedly, Cody is now charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a child, forcible sexual abuse and sexual battery.

All of the alleged incidents involve allegations that Cody fondled two girls and a woman at his apartment complex pool.

In June 2008, Cody allegedly grabbed a woman’s breast and touched a girl underneath her bathing suit.

In August, another girl reported that he had thrown her into the pool two times, touching her underneath her bathing suit each time. This alleged victim contacted her mother and later identified Cody through the school Web site and a distinctive tattoo on his arm.

Reportedly the two previous victims had described the same tattoo but had been unable to identify the alleged attacker.
