Don Y. Kawamoto, 53, a boys tennis coach at Greenwood High School in Greenwood, Indiana has been arrested and charged with sexual misconduct with a minor on allegations that he inappropriately touched a teenage girl during private tennis lessons.

It is alleged that Kawamoto touched the 15-year-old girl’s breast on two occasions and police say that he admitted doing so.

Reportedly the incidents with the girl happened during Christmas break and took place in an indoor practice facility on the Greenwood High School campus that Kawamoto had access to because of his coaching position.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the Johnson County Prosecutor’s office, the first incident occurred on Jan. 1 during a private lesson.

The girl said Kawamoto, while holding her right wrist during swing instruction, slid his left hand down the girl’s shirt and under her sports bra.

The next day, the girl said Kawamoto again slid his hand under her shirt and under her sports bra. The girl walked away and then began hitting tennis balls with Kawamoto when he asked her if she liked him touching her. The girl told him not to touch her.

Reportedly Kawamoto has been fired by the school and is free after posting $8,000 bond.

02/11/09 – Case Update

Greenwood police say more victims could come forward in their investigation of Don Kawamoto.

Already, a second and third alleged victim have come forward.

On Jan. 19, a 15-year-old Greenwood High School student told police that Kawamoto began touching her breasts during private lessons in the summer between her 7th and 8th grade year when she was a student at Greenwood Middle School.

On Jan. 21, a 16-year-old Indian Creek High School student told police that Kawamoto began touching her in the summer of 2008.

In both instances the girls are reported to have told investigators that the touching occurred so often they could not estimate the number of incidents.

Currently Kawamoto is facing three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor and two counts of sexual battery.

11/20/09 – Guilty Plea and Sentencing

Don Kawamoto, who in August pleaded guilty to three felony counts of sexual misconduct with a minor has been sentenced.

Kawamoto, who was facing up to eight years in prison, was instead sentenced to two years.

When released from prison, Kawamoto must register as a sex offender.

Michael J. Dolan, 29, a former swimming coach at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania has been arrested and charged with multiple counts including solicitation of a minor for involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor, promoting prostitution and related charges.

It is alleged that Dolan solicited sex in exchange for money with a 15-year old female member on the swim team. They allege that in April Dolan started sending the girl unsolicited, sexually explicit text messages in the middle of the night.

According to prosecutors, text messages allegedly traced back to Dolan’s phone and sent to the alleged victim include:

“Would you (expletive) any guy you know for $200”

“I will meet you at Miles Park with 200 bucks if you will.”

“I am at Miles right now in a green shirt”

Allegedly Dolan admitted to investigators that he sent the text messages to the alleged victim and that he knew her to be a minor and a Plymouth-Whitemarsh student.

Dolan came to the attention of police when the girl and her parents went to police after the text messages continued throughout the day.

Reportedly Dolan, who coached at the school from November 2007 to March 2008, has coached at several swim clubs and investigators are concerned that other victims may exist.

07/31/09 – Guilty Plea

Michael Dolan has reportedly pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Court to charges of unlawful contact with a minor for purposes of prostitution and corruption of a minor.

Dolan faces a possible maximum sentence of from one and a half to three years in at sentencing.

The judge order that Dolan be evaluated by the Pennsylvania Sexual Offender Assessment Board to determine if he meets criteria under the state’s Megan’s Law to be declared a sexually violent predator.

11/20/09 – Sentencing

Michael J. Dolan has been sentenced 1 1/2 to three years in jail and a five-year probation.

In addition, he will be listed as a Megan’s Law offender and be required to report his whereabouts to authorities for 10 years.

Robert Walter “Bob” Bopp, hockey coach at Grosse Pointe South High School in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan has reportedly been arrested on allegations of sexually assaulting a teenage boy in July, 2008.

Bopp and James Ryan McBee, 19, were arraigned on three counts of felony child sexually abusive activity, one felony count of distributing sexually explicit matter to children and a misdemeanor charge of furnishing alcohol to a minor, according to a press released from Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

It is alleged that Bopp and McBee lured a then 15-year-old Farmington Hills boy to Bopp’s home in Taylor last July and it is further alleged that Bopp plied the boy with alcohol and pornographic pictures and then both men sexually assaulted him.

According to police, the alleged victim is not one of Bopp’s players.

It is further alleged that When Farmington Hills Police, Taylor Police and federal agents arrested Bopp and searched his home in Taylor, Michigan they found a huge stash of pictures and videos with kids involved in sex acts.

At arraignment, both Bopp and McBee reportedly stood mute and District Court. Judge William Sutherland entered pleas of not guilty for both of them.

Bopp, who has reportedly been the head coach at Grosse Pointe South for 16 years and lead the team to a state championship in 2007, has reportedly been suspended by the school.

Both men were reportedly held without bond following arraignment.

Bopp’s next court appearance is reportedly set for June 27th.

07/30/09 – Preliminary Hearing

At the conclusion of the preliminary hearing for Robert Bopp, District Court Judge William Sutherland found probable cause and bound Bopp over to circuit court on multiple counts of sexual assault and child pornography.

James R. McBee was also bound over to circuit court.

Arraignment in circuit court is set for August 6th for both of the accused who are being held without bond in a Wayne County jail.

11/04/09 – Prosecutor Announces Plea Deal

According to prosecutors speaking after a pretrial hearing, Robert Bopp is expected to plead guilty to two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and be sentenced to 17 1/2 to 30 years in prison.

According to Christopher Andreoff, Bopp’s attorney, Bopp is expected to be charged in federal court on the same matter and a plea agreement in that case is being discussed.

11/19/09 – Guilty Plea

Reportedly, Robert Bopp has pleaded guilty in federal court to two counts of producing child pornography and one count of attempting to produce child pornography.

The charges to which Bopp pleaded guilty carry a minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison and as part of the federal charges, Bopp is expected to forfeit his home and his 2008 Ford Escape, both allegedly used to commit his crimes.
