Roberto Caragol, 35, a former assistant swim coach at Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has been arrested and charged in federal court with possessing child pornography.

Reportedly court records indicated that investigators confronted Caragol in October after receiving information that his e-mail address was used to transmit four pornographic images of young boys.

In October, Caragol denied the allegations and voluntarily turned over his laptop computer to investigators.

According to the federal complaint, a search of Caragol’s laptop computer uncovered approximately 40 illicit images.

It is alleged that in an interview with an FBI special agent last week that Caragol admitted he had sent, received or possessed at least a couple of hundred images of young boys.

It is further alleged that Caragol told the FBI special agent that he was not presently engaging in sex with minors, but had previously had sexual contact with children younger than 18, with those acts dating back to 2001.

Law enforcement officials are urging parents and students with information about improper sexual contact by the Roberto Caragol to come forward.

Caragol was initially suspended and then subsequently fired by the school.

Caragol made his initial appearance in Miami federal court Wednesday afternoon and was ordered to remain in custody. A bail hearing is set for today.

03/05/09 - Guilty Plea

Roberto Caragol has pleaded guilty to transmitting child pornography.

Federal prosecutors said that Caragol admitted to sexual encounters with five underage boys whom he coached and that he had an ongoing sexual relationship with an underage female he met at a swimming-related event.

Caragol faces up to 20 years in prison at sentencing on the child pornography counts.

Reportedly an investigation is ongoing in regard to the alleged admissions of sexual abuse of minors.

06/22/09 - Sentencing

Roberto Caragol has reportedly been sentenced to 151 months in prison.

Federal prosecutors said Caragol also admitted to sexual encounters with six underage boys, including five he coached at the time. In addition, Caragol told investigators he had sex with an underage girl he met at a swimming-related event, according to court records.

Karolyn Nagel, 24, a former earth science teacher at Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, Florida has bee arrested on felony charges of computer pornography and traveling to meet a minor.

It is alleged that Nagel exchanged thousands of text messages with the 17-year-old male student, that she used text messages to facilitate unlawful sexual behavior with the student and traveled to have sex with him.

According to a probable cause affidavit it is alleged that during an overnight school trip to Orlando, Nagel sent the boy a text message saying, “I want to kiss you right now”. The affidavit goes on to indicate that the boy responded with a text message saying, “me too I want to make love right now” and that Nagel responded, “”me too I want you so bad”.

Nagel came to the attention of authorities in November, 2008 when the Leon County Sheriff’s Office was advised by the Department of Children and Families of a complaint they had received alleging that Karolyn Nagel was possibly sexually involved with a 17-year-old student. Nagel and the boy were interviewed at that time and both denied any inappropriate relationship existed.

In December, 2008 additional information was received by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office that indicated that during an out of town trip to Orlando, Nagel and the student may have been involved in sexual activity.

During the course of the investigation interviews were conducted cell phone records of text messages were obtained. Detectives discovered that Nagel and the victim had called or text messaged each other thousands of times between September 01, 2008 and January 26, 2009. Investigators indicated that from those text message it appears Nagel and the victim were sexually involved.

Nagel was arrested Wednesday night and taken to the Leon County Jail and released after posting $5,000 bail on each charge.

Isaac Nathan Tillis, 29, a math teacher at Bartow High School in Bartow, Florida has been arrested on a charge of soliciting one of his students for oral sex in exchange for getting an “A” in his class.

Tillis was arrested in the company of the 16-year-old female student.

Reportedly the girl had been equipped with a hidden listening device and given a “code word” to utter when police were to make entry into the lounge.

Reportedly once inside the bathroom, Tillis allegedly lowered his pants and told the girl to perform oral sex on him. At that time she uttered the “code word”.

12/21/07 - Past Allegations Surface

In 2004, Isaac Nathan Tillis, 29, was accused of kissing a student and passing an inappropriate note to another student.

On Thursday, Tillis was being held of $75,000 bond and was told he was ineligible for a public defender and that he would need to retain a private lawyer.

Tillis and his fiance obtained a wedding license in the Polk County courthouse December 14th.

06/15/09 - Guilty Verdict

On Friday, a jury found Isaac Nathan Tillis guilty of attempting to commit unlawful sexual activity with certain minors.

The jury deliberated about an hour before returning the guilty verdict.

Sentencing is set for next month and Tillis could get up to five years in prison.
