Stephanie Marie Ragusa, 28, a former teacher at Davidsen Middle School in Tampa, Florida has been arrested and charged with five counts of lewd and lascivious battery on allegations of having sex with a 15-year-old boy.

It is alleged that Ragusa had a sexual relationship with the boy and that she had sex with him five times between Oct. 1, 2006 to May 4, 2007.

The alleged victim was never a student of Ragusa, although he attended Davidsen Middle School when Ragusa taught there.

Ragusa who currently works as a math teacher at Martinez Middle School in Lutz, Florida has been placed on paid administrative leave.

In the wake of her arrest, Ragusa was being held without bond at the Hillsborough County Jail. A bond hearing has been set for March 19th.

Investigators now say that Ragusa performed oral sex on the boy twice, and allegedly had intercourse with him three other times. It is further alleged that the victim was also able to describe tattoos located on either side of Ragusa’s groin, tattoos which could only be seen if she wasn’t wearing clothes.

Timothy Robert Brightbill, 42, a band teacher at the Nature Coast High School in Brooksville, Florida has been arrested and charged with two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a 17-year-old female student.

According to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office, it is alleged that the mother of the student returned home about 2:30 pm on December 31st to find her daughter lying underneath Brightbill who was reportedly in his underwear. Deputies that this is the second time he was with the teen but the first time he got caught. The mother immediately called for deputies, who arrived while Brightbill was still there.

Reportedly the victim told deputies that Brightbill first performed sex acts on her in November while she was at his home and that they had performed sex acts upon each other on the afternoon of December 31st.

It is alleged that, after he was read his rights by deputies, that Brightbill confessed to both incidents.

Following his arrest Brightbill was being held on $20,000 bail in Orient Road Jail.

01/03/09 - Case Update

According to a report on Hernando Today, Timothy Brightbill was still in jail on Friday, held in lieu of $20,000 bond.

If convicted Brightbill could face up to 30 years in prison in addition to the loss of his teaching certificate and thanks to a new law which went into effect last year, the loss of state retirement benefits.

And owing to his alleged confession, Brightbill will likely be fired by the school system.

01/05/09 - Case Update

Reportedly Timothy Brightbill remains in the Hernando County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond.

It is also reported by TampaBay.com that schools officials were planning to suspend him with pay, the first step in an internal process that could lead to suspension without pay or termination.

Noygel Antonio Massop, 41, a former English teacher and boys basketball coach at J.P. Taravella High School in Coral Springs, Florida has been arrested and jailed without bail on five charges of sexual battery for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old female student from about Oct. 1, 2007, to Nov. 4, 2008.

Police arrested Noygel on Dec. 19, a day after he allegedly implicated himself in a recorded telephone conversation police set up with the teen .

Reportedly school officials suspected a sexual relationship between a Massop and the student and questioned both in December, 2007 or January, 2008 and both denied there was a relationship.

According to police the relationship began when the girl was a sophomore.

Reportedly Massop left J.P. Taravella High School prior to his arrest and returned to working at at Coconut Creek High School, where he taught previously. Massop was working at Coconut Creek High School as a full-time substitute at the time of his arrest.

Reportedly in the arrest affidavit it is alleged that Massop and the girl had sex in his locked classroom, in the boys locker room, in a grassy area outside a school building, in his vehicles and at his home.
