Garrett Wayne Ammon, 30, of Rancho Cucamonga, California and a teacher at the Scheu Family YMCA of Upland has agreed to plead guilty to one count of felony child molestation.

Ammon was arrested in December on two felony charges of committing a lewd act on a child under 14 years old. One count will be dismissed as part of Ammon’s plea agreement.

A 4-year-old boy told police that Ammon touched him inappropriately in the school’s bathroom and in the classroom as well. The boy also told investigators that Ammon molested other kids in his class.

When he was arrested Ammon told police he abused the boy on at least seven different occasions. Police say that the molestations occurred between September 1 and December 11, 2008.

Under the terms of the plea agreement, Ammon will be sentenced to three years in state prison when he appears in court for formal sentencing on February 10th.

Ammon will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Brian Michael Lane, 29, a preschool teacher at Sugar Plum First Class Preschool in Hudson, Florida has been accused of fondling a 4-year-old boy during nap time.

Lane came to the attention of authorities when the alleged victim was caught acting in a sexually inappropriate way with another child. When questioned about his actions during counseling the boy revealed that Lane had touched him improperly under his clothes numerous times while the boy and his classmates were napping.

It is alleged that Lane told deputies that he touched the boy once as the child described it “for less than a minute” and that he “did not know why he did this”.

Following his arrest Lane was being held without bail at Land O’ Lakes Jail on a charge of lewd and lascivious molestation.

Reportedly Lane has worked at the school for six years

Brian Lane Arrested Again

Brian Lane freed on $10,000 bond on Saturday was arrested again on Monday.

Lane’s latest arrest was made on allegations of touching a 10-year-old boy in a sexual way at least 10 times between January and March of this year.

Following his latest arrest Lane was being held without bail at Land O’ Lakes Jail.

11/06/08 – Guilty Plea and Sentencing

Brian Lane has pleaded guilty to attempted capital sexual battery and two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation.

As a result of his guilty plea, Lane was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

According to the St. Petersburg Times:

The hearing was long, strange and contentious.

It was on, off, on again. There was crying, yelling, pointing. The father of the 4-year-old victim got up in court and said Lane was a monster. Lane’s mother got up and said that he wasn’t. For all of it, the 4-year-old was in the courtroom, in the front row, kneeling, watching, wide-eyed.

Christopher Eng, 23, owner and former operator of Critters Childcare at Beacon Hill and Kimball elementary schools, in Seattle, Washington who pleaded guilty last month to molesting two young boys in his care has been sentenced.

King County Superior Court Judge William Downing sentenced Eng to at least 16 1/2 years in prison. In sentencing Eng the judge said, “It’s a crime against all society.”

Eng could end up locked up for life as his release date, if any, from prison will be determed by the state’s Indeterminate Sentence Review Board, which acts as a parole board for certain sex offenders.

Eng came to the attention of authorities when a then 10-year-old boy told his mother that Eng had been molesting him for two years and had done so at Eng’s home and in the schools, including in the teachers lounge at Beacon Hill Elementary. Eng admitted molesting the boy more than a dozen times between September 2004 and August 2006.

After Eng was arrested a second alleged victim came forward. Eng denied having sexual contact with the second boy, who was 7 at the time. Eng indicated he pleaded guilty because of the likelihood of being convicted at trial and to take advantage of a plea deal offered by prosecutors.

The mother of the first victim call Eng “this predator” and said that her son, once happy, confident and extroverted, became sad, silent and withdrawn while in Eng’s care, too traumatized to tell her what was wrong.

The boy’s mother indicated that the only worse act that Eng could have committed was to murder her child. But in a sense, he did that to her son, too. She said , “He murdered his innocence, he murdered his self-esteem and trust in adults in general.“.

The victim’s mother also said, “The day my child told me what this pedophile did to him, my world ended and I wanted to die. I wanted to crash the car we were both in so we wouldn’t have to feel the pain, the shame, the confusion and the horror of the knowledge of what had happened to him.”

The victim, now 11, told the judge that Eng, “messed up my life“. “He’s changed the future“. “Give him the maximum number of years, because when he gets out, he’s probably going to mess up more lives.“.
