Joseph Marino

Joseph Anthony Marino III, 42, a music teacher at Conard High School in West Hartford, Connecticut has reportedly been arrested on allegations of a months-long sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student.

Reportedly, Marino is charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault.

Marino came to the attention of authorities on August 2, after the minor’s diary was reportedly found in Wethersfield outlining her relationship with the teacher. At that time the student had graduated from the high school.

Marino was confronted by school administrators and asked him to either resign or face termination. Reportedly, Marino resigned on August 9th.

Following his arrest, Marino was released on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court August 26th.

Robert Reinhardt, 44, the former Dean of Students at The Gunnery in Washington, Connecticut has reportedly been arrested on allegations of the sexual assault of three victims, at least one of whom is a male student.

Reinhardt is reportedly charged with various counts, including second-degree sexual assault, one count of fourth-degree sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.

At his arraignment this morning bond for Reinhardt was reportedly set in the amount of $750,000 and he was subsequently released on bond.

Reinhardt came to the attention of authorities in June when a student told his mother that a teacher brought him to the teacher’s room and touched him inappropriately. The mother called state police who obtained two warrants to search the teacher’s dormitory and sent evidence to the state forensics laboratory for testing. Over the course of their investigation, state police reportedly found three victims, two of whom are under 16 years of age.

When asked, Reinhardt said he had no comment about the allegations and his attorney, William Dow, said the claims are all false.

A spokesperson for The Gunnery said Reinhardt no longer works at the private college prep school.

Guilty

Micah S. Brown, 30, a student teacher at American School For The Deaf in West Hartford, Connecticut has been arrested in New York on allegations of a sexual relationship with an underage girl.

According to state police, Brown was charged with two felony counts of attempting to disseminate indecent materials to a child. Following his arrest, Brown was arraigned in DeWitt town court and ordered held at the Justice Center Jail in lieu of $500,000 cash bail or $1 million bond

Brown was arrested Wednesday at the Quality Inn in Dewitt, New York after a two-month investigation which began when an underage girl reported having a sexual relationship with Brown. It is alleged that Brown traveled to the motel to engage in sexual conduct with girls he believed to be 14 and 16 years old.

Allegedly, the girl told investigators she met Brown in an AOL chat room in November and that he helped her with schoolwork then began text messaging her. It is further alleged that in February, Brown traveled to meet the girl and allegedly gave her marijuana and alcohol and engaged in sexual conduct with her.

Reportedly, Brown has been enrolled since September in the master’s program in secondary education at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at the Rochester Institute of Technology. National Technical Institute placed Brown at the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford as a student teacher. A school spokesperson has indicated that Brown will no longer be permitted at the school.

Francis Hajosy

Francis Hajosy, 54, a technology teacher at Enfield High School in Enfield, Connecticut has reportedly been arrested on allegations of sexually assaulting a student.

Reportedly, court records indicate that Hajosy is charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and second-degree breach of peace.

On Wednesday, a judge issued a protective order prohibiting Hajosy from initiating contact with the student.

Under the terms of the protective order Hajosy is allowed to be in the same building as the student as long as he works for the high school.

Following his arrest, Hajosy was reportedly freed on $5,000 bond.

It is alleged that Hajosy spanked a female student who was visiting his class. It is further alleged that Hajosy spanked the girl by striking her a total of four times.

Reportedly, Hajosy has been suspended with pay by the school system.

John Randy Tate, 54, a teacher and head of the arts department at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk, Connecticut has reportedly been arrested on allegations of a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student.

Reportedly, Tate is charged with sexual assault in the second-degree.

It is alleged that Tate and the student had sexual encounters both on and off school grounds and that Tate gave the student alcohol on at least one occasion.

Reportedly, Tate came to the attention of the Norwalk Police Department by way of an anonymous tip through the police department’s website.

During the course of the investigation by the Norwalk Police Department, investigators learned that Tate was also being investigated by the state Department of Children and Families on allegations of inappropriate conduct with students and that he had been placed on leave pending the outcome of that investigation.

Investigators took Tate into custody at his residence on Thursday. Following his arrest Tate was arraigned in state Superior Court in Norwalk Friday morning and was being held on $150,000 bond.

05/15/10 – Case Update

Court documents indicate John Tate engaged in a several months-long sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student that included at least one sexual liaison that took place inside of a classroom at Brien McMahon and another in a cemetery.

Allegedly, Tate allegedly exchanged text messages and e-mails with the alleged victim, go so far as to sometimes logging onto his laptop during his class time to e-mail her.

Tate is currently free on $150,000 bond.

Guilty

Adam C. Benedict, 29, a cross-country and basketball coach in the Litchfield, Connecticut school system has been arrested on allegations of fourth-degree sexual assault and second-degree harassment of former students.

Reportedly, Benedict is also charged with interfering with an officer for refusing to answer the door when police arrived and identified themselves.

Benedict who reportedly is a cross-country and basketball coach at the middle school level, also helped coach the high school track team.

Following his Friday night arrest Benedict was released on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned this morning.

Benedict denies any improper conduct saying, “I am not guilty” and “at the time I wasn’t even working at the school. I was student teaching in another district. I don’t know where they’re getting that I was a teacher”.

Allegedly one alleged victim told investigators that Benedict took her back to his house where they went to Benedict’s bedroom and Benedict began kissing her and touched her breasts.
