Guilty

Thomas Bavedas, 38, a former third-grade teacher at Waltersville School in Bridgeport, Connecticut has been arrested and charged on allegations that the raped a girl under the age of 16 on three separate occasions between 2001 and 2005.

Two days prior to being charged with the rape allegations, Bavedas was charged with possession of marijuana, cocaine and drug paraphernalia and released on $30,000 bond. Following his Friday arrest on three counts of first-degree sexual assault and three counts of risk of injury to a minor Bavedas was released on $100,000 bond.

Reportedly Bavedas, on the advice of his attorney, resigned from his job following his arrest on the drug charges.

The relationship between Bavedas and the alleged victim has not been revealed, however it is reported that Bavedas is known to the girl’s family.

07/17/08 – Another Arrest, Child Porn Charges

Thomas Bavedas was arrested again today, this time on allegations that he had more than 60,000 still photographs and more than 3,000 video images of child pornography on his home computer.

The latest allegations against Bavedas are the result of an examination of Bavedas’ computer by the Milford Police Department Computer Crimes Unit. The computer was seized at the time of his initial arrest.

Robert Reinhardt, 44, the former Dean of Students at The Gunnery in Washington, Connecticut has reportedly been arrested on allegations of the sexual assault of three victims, at least one of whom is a male student.

Reinhardt is reportedly charged with various counts, including second-degree sexual assault, one count of fourth-degree sexual assault and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.

At his arraignment this morning bond for Reinhardt was reportedly set in the amount of $750,000 and he was subsequently released on bond.

Reinhardt came to the attention of authorities in June when a student told his mother that a teacher brought him to the teacher’s room and touched him inappropriately. The mother called state police who obtained two warrants to search the teacher’s dormitory and sent evidence to the state forensics laboratory for testing. Over the course of their investigation, state police reportedly found three victims, two of whom are under 16 years of age.

When asked, Reinhardt said he had no comment about the allegations and his attorney, William Dow, said the claims are all false.

A spokesperson for The Gunnery said Reinhardt no longer works at the private college prep school.

10/06/09 – Fourth Alleged Victim Comes Forward

Robert Reinhardt was arraigned Tuesday afternoon in Litchfield Superior Court on charges of second-degree sexual assault and providing liquor to a minor, the result of a fourth alleged victim coming forward.

Judge James Ginocchio ordered an additional bond of $200,000 in light of the new charges.

10/17/09 – Court Appearance

On Friday, Robert Reinhardt made a court appearance and pleaded not guilty Friday to charges he sexually molested students at the Gunnery school.

Reinhardt remains free on $950,000 in bonds.

His next court date is set for November 17th.

Russell N. Andrews, 34, a former drama and music teacher at Montville High School, in Montville, Connecticut has been arrested on allegations of having inappropriate relations with a female student.

Reportedly Andrews surrendered to police today and was arrested on six counts of sex assault.

Rumors of an improper relationship between Andrews and the girl spread around the school in December, 2008.

Reportedly when initially confronted both the student and Andrews denied the accusations.

School administrators also spoke to the student’s parent.

Andrews reportedly resigned from the school system once confronted with the allegations and the school superintendent has recommended the State Board of Education revoke Andrews’ teacher’s certification

Following his arrest Andrews was held on $100,000 bond pending his arraignment today.

02/23/09 – Court Appearance

Russell Andrews made a court appearance today and entered not guilty pleas to six counts of second-degree sexual assault.

A hearing is scheduled for Thursday on a bond reduction motion filed by Andrews’ attorney.

Andrews remains jailed in lieu of $100,000 bond.

02/25/09 – Arrest Warrant Unsealed

An arrest warrant against Russell Andrews was unsealed this week.

Police say that Andrews admitted his involvement with the 17- and 18-year-olds after denying it several times during interviews with town and state police.

Andrews allegedly had sex with the girls in the alcove of the high school auditorium.

Reportedly Andrews remains jailed in lieu of $100,000 bond.

02/27/09 – Bond Reduction Denied

A judge has denied Russell Andrews’ request that his bond be reduced to $10,000.

Andrews’ bond remains at $100,000 and reportedly Andrews remains jailed in lieu of that bond.

09/10/09 – Guilty Plea

In a plea deal with prosecutors, Russell N. Andrews has reportedly pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree sexual assault.

Sentencing is set for November 10th and as part of his sentence Andrews will be required to register as a sex offender.

Under the terms of the plea agreement, Andrews is subject to being sentenced to 14 years in prison, suspended after seven years served and 20 years probation. Andrews’ attorney may argue for less prison time. Under state law the minimum prison sentence Andrews faces is 18 months.
