Guilty

Balazs Toth, 36, a music teacher at St. Catherine of Siena School and also at Escuela de Guadalupe Catholic School, both on Denver, Colorado has been arrested on allegations that he attempted the Internet seduction of a detective who reportedly posed as a 14-year-old girl.

It is alleged that Toth set up a meeting with the detective posing as a child after propositioning her on an Internet chat room.

It is alleged that Toth started the Internet chat by asking if the fictitious girl was a virgin and he described a sex act he wanted to perform on on the girl. It is further alleged that Tothsent a picture of an erect penis to the girl.

Toth was arrested when he arrived at a location where he had arranged to meet the detective posing as the girl.

Reportedly Toth has resigned from both schools in the wake of his arrest.

Toth faces charges of Internet sexual exploitation of a child, Internet luring of a child as well as other felony counts.

Toth was released on $35,000 bond.

10/27/09 – Case Update

Earlier this year Balazs Toth pleaded guilty to criminal attempt to commit sexual assault on a child.

He was sentenced to 90 days in jail and five years of sex offender probation.

Today, his car, a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse, was crushed by Denver Police. The car was adjudicated a public nuisance since it was used to attempt a sexual assault.

A Denver Police Department spokesperson was quoted as saying as to why the car was crushed rather than auctioned, “Because of the severity and type of crime, we felt it would be more important to crush the car and make sure the car is never used in a criminal offense again.”

Anthony Ruiz, 34, a former social studies teacher at Eagle Rock School in Estes Park, Colorado has reportedly been arrested on allegations of the sexual assault of a 16-year-old female student.

Ruiz was arrested last week on one count of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.

Reportedly Ruiz came to the attention of authorities when the alleged victim called a member of the school staff and told them about the alleged incident. School officials in turn contacted Child Protective Services and the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department.

It is alleged that Ruiz sexually assaulted the girl once during the month of May and as a result she became pregnant.

Reportedly the alleged victim left the school for academic reasons earlier this month and is now living at the family home in California . Eagle Rock School is reportedly a year-round, residential and full-scholarship school enrolling people ages 15-17 from around the country.

A school spokesperson has indicated that Ruiz was fired Friday night after investigators told school officials that they had interview Ruiz and that he had confirmed in the police interview the girl’s allegations.

Following his arrest Ruiz was reportedly being held without bail in the Larimer County Detention Center.

07/31/09 – Charges Officially Filed

Anthony Ruiz has reportedly been officially charged with sexual assault by a person in a position of trust and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

There are no other allegations of sexual assault against Ruiz and he is reportedly free on $5,000 bond with his first court appearance set for this morning.

08/10/09 – Ruiz Can Move To Florida and Leave Country

Apparently without objection from the Larimer County District Attorney’s Office, Judge Jolene Blair has allowed Anthony Ruiz to not only move to Miami, Floria she has also allowed him to travel to the Dominican Republic for a family vacation.

Ruiz is supposed to travel back to Larimer County for his next court appearance September 22.

09/23/09 – Preliminary Hearing

On Tuesday, preliminary hearing was held for Anthony Ruiz and the judge ruled there is enough evidence against Ruiz to support the charge of sexual assault on a minor by a person in a position of trust and to send the case to trial.

Ruiz will appear in court again on November 20th for arraignment.

Thomas Helmbrecht, 50, a science teacher at Nucla High School in Nucla, Colorado has reportedly been arrested on allegations of Internet sexual exploitation of a child.

Helmbrech was arrested last week after Montrose County Sheriff’s Department deputies executed a search warrant at his home. It is reportedly alleged that Helmbrecht, was found to have several photos allegedly depicting child pornography inside the residence.

During a court hearing last week, prosecutors said that Helmbrecht admitted to ongoing possession of and use of sexually exploitative material for five years and referred to numerous explicit photos investigators reportedly found in Helmbrecht’s home.

The prosecution reportedly sought bail of $75,000 while Helmbrecht reportedly pleaded to be allowed contact with his daughters, and for a manageable bond.

Judge John Mitchel set bail at $10,000 and imposed explicit conditions concerning contact with children and a requirement that Helmbrecht see a clinical psychologist.

Helmbrecht’s next court appearance is September 10th.
