McKell Shurtliff, 23, a former assistant softball coach at Payson High School in Payson, Utah has been arrested for allegedly engaging in sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl on the team.

Reportedly, Shurtliff is charged with three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, which is a third-degree felony.

It is alleged that Shurtliff engaged in a three-month sexual relationship with the girl beginning in March, 2008 and that there were multiple sexual encounters which occurred within that time frame.

It is further alleged that Shurtliff admitted to the relationship and sexual encounters, telling police she knew it was wrong, but she loved the victim.

Following her arrest, Shurtliff was reportedly being held in the Utah County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash bail.

Shurtliff was reportedly “released” by the school, at the time the investigation into the allegations began in the fall of 2008.

10/08/09 – Guilty Plea To Lesser Charge

In a plea deal with prosecutors, McKell Shurtliff has reportedly pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of lewdness involving a child.

In return, prosecutors dropped two felony counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor and a felony count lewdness involving a child.

Sentencing is set for November 17th and Shurtliff faces a maximum of one year in jail.

11/18/09 – Sentencing

McKell Shurtliff has been sentenced to 120 days in jail and two years of probation.

Shurtliff is also required to complete sex-offender treatment and will be on the state sex-offender registry for 10 years.

William Macgregor “Mac” Leighton, 31, head football coach at J.R. Tucker High School in Richmond, Virginia has been arrested on allegations of improper relationships with two female students, one 15-years-old and the other 17-years-old.

Leighton is reportedly charged with three counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor while in a custodial role, and two counts of soliciting child pornography.

It is alleged that Leighton sent text messages from a cell phone soliciting pornographic material from the students. Three additional felony counts allege Leighton took indecent liberties with a minor while in a custodial role.

It is further alleged that both students provided sexually explicit pictures to Leighton and the older student had unspecified sexual contact with him.

Leighton was released on $50,000 bond this afternoon and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in August.

11/18/09 – Guilty Plea

William Macgregor “Mac” Leighton has reportedly pleaded guilty to three counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor while in a custodial role.

In Henrico County Circuit Court, Leighton acknowledged his guilt in months-long relationships with students 15 and 17 and entered his guilty pleas with no promise of a sentencing recommendation.

Leighton faces up to 5 years in prison on each of the three counts.

Leighton was permitted to remain free on $50,000 bond to await sentencing, set for February 19th.

Peter Jeschke, 34, assistant girl’s tennis coach at Santa Barbara High School in Santa Barbara, California has been arrested on allegations of having sex with a 16-year-old female student.

Jeschke came to the attention of authorities when the alleged victim told her friends about the sexual encounters, her friends told the school officials and they then called the police.

Jeschke was arrested on a charge of unlawful sex with a minor, possession of marijuana and driving on a suspended license. Police also say that at the time of his arrest Jeschke has a $10,000 outstanding warrant out of Los Angeles for driving under the influence.

Police say they are trying to find out if there are any more victims.

08/18/08 – Jeschke Headed to Trial

In May, Peter Jeschke was ordered to stand trial on 18 criminal charges, ranging from furnishing drugs and alcohol to minors, to having sexual intercourse and oral copulation with a minor to driving on a suspended license.

05/13/09 – Guilty Verdict

A Santa Barbara Superior Court jury has found Peter Jeschke guilty of sexual penetration by a foreign object, three counts of oral copulation, two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and a misdemeanor charge for possession of marijuana.

Jeschke was found not guilty of administering an intoxicating substance to a minor in order to commit a felony and furnishing marijuana to a minor.

Sentencing is set for June 24th and Jeschke faces the possibility of up to ten years in prison.

11/17/09 – Sentencing

Peter Jeschke has reportedly been sentenced to one year in county jail.

According to a report by The Daily Sound:

The prosecutor said she had pressed for a stiffer sentence of seven years and eight months in state prison for Jeschke, but the victim’s mother apparently asked that the defendant undergo rehabilitation.

Jeschke reportedly still faces additional charges of witness intimidation and will appear in court next month to set a date for a preliminary hearing into those charges.
