Rosemary Owens, 34, a physical science teacher at Kenai Central High School, in Kenai, Alaska has reportedly been charged on allegations of having sex with one of her former students prior to his 18th birthday.

Owens is reportedly charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a minor, one count of misconduct involving a controlled substance and one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor.

Owens came under investigation by police in June and it is alleged that the boy told investigators that the relationship included sex, smoking marijuana at Owens’s home in Kenai and drinking beer together.

It is alleged that sexual relations between Owens and the student took place at a house she was house sitting and as part of a birthday gift to the student two days before his 18th birthday. It is further alleged that after Owens gave the student four or five beers, she undressed him and engaged in sexual intercourse with him.

Police allegedly have transcripts of numerous text messages between Owens and the boy including one in which Owens wrote:

Like I don’t do that w just anybody and Nu probably shldnt hang out w me bc im pretty sure im going to hell.”

Reportedly, Owens resigned from the school in June when the allegations initially were made and that she thereafter moved to Idaho.

A warrant for Owens’ arrest has been requested by the District Attorney’s Office.

Jenson Eugene Seifert, 25, a teacher and coach at Birchwood Christian School in Anchorage, Alaska has been arrested on allegations of sexually abusing a 14-year-old male student.

Seifert is reportedly charged with 14 felony counts of sexual abuse of a minor.

Seifert came to the attention of police on Friday when the victim’s mother reported that her son had become withdrawn from Seifert and that Seifert appeared to become controlling of her son.

It is alleged that the boy told investigators that Seifert had repeatedly molested him, including on a youth trip to Alyeska Resort. It is alleged that the sexual abuse began in August of last year and continued until the boy told his Mom of the alleged crimes.

Following his arrest, Jenson Seifert was being held in the Anchorage jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.

Police are concerned over the possibility there might be other victims. Investigators request that if there are other victims or if parents suspect their children might have been victimized that they call Anchorage Police at 786-8900.

Alex Mayo, 32, a second and third grade teacher at Rilke Schule German Charter School in Anchorage, Alaska has been charged with child molestation in Snohomish County, Washington.

Mayo was charged in December with the alleged sexual abuse of a 9-year-old boy in Washington state in 1999.

He is currently under investigation on similar allegations in Anchorage.

Reportedly none of the accusations involve Mayo’s students or illicit behavior on school property. All of the alleged victims were the children of friends of Mayo.

Mayo has worked for the Anchorage School District since 2000 and has taught at Muldoon Elementary, Village Charter School and North Star Elementary.

Mayo has been suspended by the Anchorage School System and is currently free on bond in Washington. He is not permitted to leave the state or to be around children.

Anchorage Police have forwarded the results of their investigation to the district attorney’s office with a recommendation that Mayo be charged with three counts of second-degree child molestation.

08/31/08 – Guilty Plea and Sentencing

Alex Mayo in a plea deal with prosecutors in both Washington and Alaska has pleaded no contest to a felony count of sexually molesting a 9-year-old child in Washington.

As part of the plea deal, Mayo was sentenced to 51 months in prison, he must never teach again and is prohibited from contact with his victims.

Prosecutors in Alaska dropped charges against Mayo as part of the plea deal with prosecutors in Washington.
