Amanda Alldredge, 32, a former teacher at Gadsden High School in Gadsden, Alabama has reportedly pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one misdemeanor count of failure to report child abuse.

Alldredge failed to report an alleged sexual relationship between a 15-year-old female student and Nicholas Keith Smith, a fellow teacher at Gadsden High School.

Under the Alabama Mandatory Reporting Act, school teachers are mandatory reporters of suspected child abuse. It was alleged that the 15-year-old girl admitted the alleged relationship with Smith to Alldredge and asked her help in covering it up.

During the course of the investigation into Alldredge’s involvement in the case of Nicholas Smith, it was discovered that Alldredge bought alcohol for a different minor.

Alldredge submitted her resignation which was approved by the Gadsden City Board of Education last week.

No sentencing date has been set and the district attorney has indicated that Alldredge is basically on a deferred sentence “in the upcoming months”.

Rebecca Nichols, a former clerical aide at East Lawrence High School in Moulton, Alabama and the estranged wife of Principal Ricky Nichols has reportedly been charged on allegations involving a 16-year-old male student.

Rebecca Nichols has reportedly been charged with misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor on allegations from the boy’s mother than Nichols gave alcohol and marijuana to the boy and had sex with him.

It is alleged that the incidents took place in Nichols’ home between March and June of this year.

The alleged victim has reportedly told investigators that he and Rebecca Nichols first had sex on March 7th and that they had sex several times between that date and the middle of June. He also allegedly told investigators that Nichols gave him alcohol and marijuana on one occasion, around May 15.

Nichols surrendered at the Lawrence County Jail on Wednesday.

Reportedly, the county Board of Education did not renew Rebecca Nichols’ contract for the upcoming school year.

Rebecca Nichols and Ricky Nichols are in the process of divorcing.

Nichols is free on $500 bond

Jessica Heather Defoor, 34, a second-grade teacher at Danville-Neel Elementary School in Danville, Alabama has been arrested on suspicion of second-degree sexual abuse.

Defoor was arrested on allegations of having inappropriate contact with a female student in February 2006.

Reportedly the alleged inappropriate contact was not reported by the student and her mother until late in 2007.

Following her arrest, Defoor was released on $500 bond and reportedly has been placed on paid administrative leave by the school system.

08/03/09 – Grand Jury Indictment

Jessica Heather Defoor has been arrested a second time. The latest arrest is the result of a Morgan County grand jury indicting her last month on two counts.

One count of the indictment reportedly alleges that Defoor enticed a child under age 16 with lascivious intent to propose an act of sexual intercourse, sodomy or other sexual acts.

The second count alleges that Defoor committed second-degree sexual abuse by subjecting a child aged less than 16 years old and older than 12 to sexual contact.

Defoor reportedly faces a maximum penalty of one to 10 years in prison if convicted.
