Jonas Silverio, 40, former principal and volleyball coach at Firebaugh High School in Lynwood, California has reportedly been arrested on allegations that he molested three female students, two from Firebaugh High School in 2005 and one from Whittier High School in 2001.

Reportedly, Silverio is charged with 17 counts of committing lewd acts upon a child.

Silverio who was placed on administrative leave in May, when allegations surfaced and an investigation began, resigned from the school system in June.

Authorities say that Silverio fled the country to the Philippines and was arrested Wednesday afternoon by sheriff’s detectives at LA Internation Airport after flying in from the Philippines. He was reportedly unaware that a warrant had been issued for his arrest.

Reportedly, the FBI had flagged his passport and agents were notified as soon as Silverio purchased a ticket for Los Angeles.

Following his arrest, Silverio was being held in custody in lieu of $1 million bail.

Silverio has been employed at various schools in the Los Angeles area, and detectives are investigating allegations dating back to 1996. Anyone with information about Silverio can contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Special Victim’s Bureau at (866) 247-5877.

Aaronson Joel Franks, 37, assistant principal at Central Cabarrus High School in Concord, North Carolina has reportedly been arrested on allegations of sexual misconduct with two female students.

Reportedly, Franks is charged with statutory rape, two counts of statutory sexual offense, three counts of sexual activity with a student by an administrator, indecent liberties with a student and four counts of indecent liberties with children.

The Charlotte Observer reports:

One of the alleged victims is a 15-year-old student at Central Cabarrus High School who reported allegations of sexual contact with Franks between October and December 2009.

The other alleged victim graduated from the school in 2009 and was older than 16 at the time of the reported sexual contact that year.

The Independent Tribune reports:

The criminal investigation began when the school received an anonymous tip of inappropriate
behavior and the school’s resource officer became involved, Boone said.

Hamilton said he believed a parent, not one for those involved in the alleged incidents, provided the tip.

Bond for Franks was reportedly set at $60,000 and he is scheduled for a court appearance today.

Reportedly, Franks has been at the school since the 2005-2006 school year and has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

03/02/10 – Court Appearance

On Monday, Aaronson Franks made an initial court appearance and told the court he has hired an attorney.

Reportedly, Franks was freed on $60,000 bond.

Gilberto Brown, 54, assistant principal at Lincoln Avenue School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin has been charged with repeatedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy.

The criminal complaint against Brown indicates that the alleged victim, who is now 18, claims he was repeatedly sexually assaulted when he spent nights at Brown’s Milwaukee apartment.

It is alleged that sexual contact between Brown and the boy started when the boy was 14 years old and the alleged victim has told investigators that after he began spending the night with Brown, he would wake up to find his pants pulled down and Brown touching him inappropriately.

Milwaukee Public Schools is alerting families at Lincoln Avenue School of the allegations against Brown and indicate there is no information that any former or current student has been victimized.

Following his arrest Gilberto Brown was placed on paid administrative leave by the school system.

Following his arrest Brown was held in lieu of $30,000 bond.

02/26/10 – Charges Dismissed

On 2/26/10 we were informed by e-mail that charges against Gilberto Brown had been dismissed.

A check of Wisconsin Circuit Court records indicates that all criminal charges against Gilberto Brown were dismissed on 02/24/10 with the following notation:

All charges against Gilberto Brown, Jr in this case have been dismissed. These charges were not proven and have no legal effect. Gilberto Brown, Jr is presumed innocent.

The online court records indicate the the charge was dismissed on prosecutor’s motion.
