Carrie McCandless Sentenced
Posted by: Webmaster in Coaches, Colorado, FE-MV, High Profile Cases, High Schools, Social StudiesCarrie McCandless, a 30-year-old former social studies teacher, cheerleading coach and wife of Chris McCandless the principal at Brighton Charter High School in Brighton, Colorado has been sentenced on a misdemeanor count of unlawful sexual contact with a minor.
Judge James Hiatt told the 30-year-old former Brighton Charter High School teacher that she was supposed to be the trusted adult who set the boundaries.
“All of this sounds like something a 16- or-17-year-old student would be doing and would have been expelled for,” he said.
McCandless was sentenced to 45 days in the county jail and was taken from the courtroom straight to jail to begin serving her sentence. As she was taken from the courtroom by deputies she blew a kiss to her husband and friends, saying: “Goodbye, guys.”
McCandless pleaded guilty on April 24th to three charges in connection with a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male student.
She previously received deferred two and four year sentences on two felony charges of tampering with physical evidence and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
As part of her plea agreement McCandless also must serve 5 years of supervised probation, get treatment in an intensive sex offender program, register as a sex offender for 10 years and she will no longer be allowed to work as a teacher.
Today’s action concludes the matter for Carrie McCandless but not for David Mundy Sr., the former president of the Brighton Charter school board who is accused of trying to cover up the scandal. Mundy Sr. faces trial next month on allegations of failure to report suspected child abuse and tampering with a witness.
Previously, David Mundy Jr., a former substitute teacher at Brighton Charter School pleaded guilty to fondling female students and was sentenced to 90 days in jail and 10 years of probation for sexual contact with three girls.

Amazing.. all that just for having sex with a 17 year old.

Show me any teenage boy that would not jump at the chance of having sex with such a hot teacher! This country is so freaking rightious.
