Calvin Jermel Beckton, a band teacher at Boude Storey Middle School in Dallas, Texas has been arrested and charged with the sexual assault of a child.
Beckton was arrested on allegations that he had sex with a female student in the school’s band hall on October 28th.
The age of the alleged victim is listed as 13-year-old in one initial report. It is listed as 14-years-old in another.
Police are not saying if the alleged sexual assaults were forced or the result of improper relationships.
Beckton was reportedly being held in the Dallas County Jail with bail set at $150,000.
11/21/08 – Calvin Beckton Free On Bail
Reportedly Calvin Beckton was released from jail on $40,000 bail on Thursday.
Beckton has been placed on administrative leave by the school.
11/22/08 – Additional Information
Reportedly, on Tuesday an unnamed witness heard the alleged victim talking inappropriately to Beckton. The unnamed witness confronted the girl, who then revealed the alleged sexual encounter between herself and Beckton.
The alleged victim has told police that Beckton was driving her and several other students home October 28 and after dropping off the other students, Beckton indicated that he forgot something at his office.
It is alleged that when Beckton returned to his office, where he forced the girl to have sex with him.

Calvin Beckton is the best band director Boude Storey has and will ever had, he isnt a bad teacher, and i think the girl was lieing,everyone in the band trusted and loved him.

So, he has a past that details his taste for young tang, eh? That forbidden fruit is a mofo. Wonder if acts like this weren’t soooo taboo, if there’d be less cases?
well imma just put it 2 everybody lyke this i went to Storey when he was up there and he was a really good teacher and it was plenty of times where i went in his room n nobody was in there but him and he didnt touch me these little gurl need to stop lien n be 4real.we miss you
unfortunately i hate to see this happen to Calvin “Maceo” Becton…I knew him well. He was a cool, guy. But I have to say…he used to do this at grambling, thats why its not a far stretch for me to believe. He used to do things with the high school and middle school band members who come for band camp in the summer…and he was well into his colligiate career. Too old for those young girls. He needs to remember these are children, and just be the honest and upstanding man he is capable of. The previous posters are right…they do teach us MUCH better than this a the mighty GSU.
I also attended undergrad with Calvin and danced/ traveled with him and the rest of the band. I am also a teacher and dance/ cheer coach. I agree wholeheartedly with GSUSUPASTAR and they most definitely did teach us better than this at Grambling. I sympathize with both parties involved and although Calvin and I were good classmates and colleagues, when it comes to matters such as this, you just have to use common sense. Now all of that hard work is possibly gone down the drain. Definitely not worth it!

OMG!!!! I went to undergrad w/ this dude!!!! I know him well as he was in our band and I was a cheerleader. I am also a teacher and he put himself in a bad position by a. being alone w/ female students …period and b. having them in his car and driving around with them. For that alone he should be fired. He was a cool guy in undergrad but that is a “risk management” issue on behalf of the school district. As an Educationalist, he should have asked himself the following questions: 1. what if I have a car accident with these girls in the car? 2. Do I have written parental/and administrative permission to transport these children (and even so I personally wouldn’t)? 3. What steps do I need to take to make sure that I am not alone with students? The principal should also be reprimanded. Again, it is risk management. If he is guilty or not, at NO time should ANY teacher be allowed to be around students alone. In response to him being the victim, HE IS ABSOLUTLY NOT THE VICTIM!!! He is a professional liability, irresponsible, and inappropriate. EVEN IF HE IS INNOCENT HE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ALONE WITH LITTLE GIRLS NOR HAD THEM IN HIS CAR!!! I am a dance coach in Louisiana and practice is over at a decent time, there is always staff there after school, practice is open to parents (they have a right to know what and with whom their children are having activities with) and PARENTS MUST PICK THEIR CHILDREN UP ON TIME OR THEY WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE ACTIVITY. I made parents sign to that last one or their children couldn’t even participate. I love the kids and all but I have to live and a reputation to protect. I pray for him and his family and the child and her family but he did this to himself. THEY TAUGHT US BETTER THAN THIS AT GRAMBLING!!!!!!

Questioned had been raised about him driving around town with those young girls in his car. I thought teachers were not allowed to transport students in their vehicles. I have seen one of the girls and him together at almost 10 at night. There was no band functions going on. I believe that is why people are kind of believing the child. We will pray for him and the student and hopefully the truth will be revealed.
