Bruce Allen Haskins, a former substitute teacher in the North Star School District in Somerset County, Pennsylvania has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a girl from the time she was 5 years-old until she was 14-years-old and taping some of the encounters with his digital camera.

Haskins pleaded guilty to one count of rape, two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and one count of filming or photographing sex acts.

In return for his guilty pleas prosecutors dropped numerous other counts against Haskins.

Haskins who in addition to working as a substitute teacher had also been a Web-design instructor at the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown.

Sentencing is set for April 16 and Haskins will be evaluated by the Sexual Offenders Assessment Board to determine if he is a sexually violent predator prior to that time.

07/10/08 - Sentencing

Bruce Allen Haskins has been sentenced to spend at least 17 years in prison and has been designated a violent sexual predator.
