Brian Michael Lane, 29, a preschool teacher at Sugar Plum First Class Preschool in Hudson, Florida has been accused of fondling a 4-year-old boy during nap time.
Lane came to the attention of authorities when the alleged victim was caught acting in a sexually inappropriate way with another child. When questioned about his actions during counseling the boy revealed that Lane had touched him improperly under his clothes numerous times while the boy and his classmates were napping.
It is alleged that Lane told deputies that he touched the boy once as the child described it “for less than a minute” and that he “did not know why he did this”.
Following his arrest Lane was being held without bail at Land O’ Lakes Jail on a charge of lewd and lascivious molestation.
Reportedly Lane has worked at the school for six years
Brian Lane Arrested Again
Brian Lane freed on $10,000 bond on Saturday was arrested again on Monday.
Lane’s latest arrest was made on allegations of touching a 10-year-old boy in a sexual way at least 10 times between January and March of this year.
Following his latest arrest Lane was being held without bail at Land O’ Lakes Jail.
11/06/08 - Guilty Plea and Sentencing
Brian Lane has pleaded guilty to attempted capital sexual battery and two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation.
As a result of his guilty plea, Lane was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
According to the St. Petersburg Times:
The hearing was long, strange and contentious.
It was on, off, on again. There was crying, yelling, pointing. The father of the 4-year-old victim got up in court and said Lane was a monster. Lane’s mother got up and said that he wasn’t. For all of it, the 4-year-old was in the courtroom, in the front row, kneeling, watching, wide-eyed.

I dated Brian in High school from 1996 - 1999 and I just cant believe that he did this. I mean I always believed that he might me homosexual but never in a million years would I have thought that he could do something this horrible. My heart goes out to his mother. I’m so sorry

I remember Brian being socially awkward, sweet and incredibly considerate. I hurt myself and he proceeded to follow me around with a pillow to make sure I kept my foot elevated. I couldn’t be more shocked that this happened. My heart goes out to both families and I hope that everyone involved gets the help they need.

A friend sent me this link,very sad, I shared a class in high school with him. He was always a very nice guy, I thought he might be a closet homosexual, but I never would have imagined this. I have two young children and this kind of thing scares me. My thoughts and prayers go out to all parties involved.

Sad and absolutely revolting. My heart goes out to you and your family Mark H - I can not imagine the anger and disillusion you must feel.
How do we stop this? How do we recognize first time offenders before they assault children? What is the solution? Do we need to move towards a system where there are 2 teachers in every classroom? Is that the only answer?

a plea agreement has been reached. he will plead guilty. to molesting my son and raping the 10 year old in exchange for a 20 min’man sentence. it will be done in court on nov 6th at the little road courthouse at 1pm.

lane will be back in court monday, august 11th at 1pm in courtroom 3A at the pasco county courthouse on little road in new port richey for a pre-trial hearing.
