Guilty

(10/19/09 – Initial BadBadTeacher.com Report)

Brandon Figurski, 20, a former volunteer assistant swim coach at Oxford High School in Oxford, Michigan has reportedly been charged on allegations of sending sexually explicit texts to two 15-year-old female members of the diving team.

Brandon Figurski

Figurski is reportedly charged with felony counts of child sexually abusive activity, using a computer to commit a crime and communicating with another to commit a crime.

It is alleged that Figurski via text message repeatedly asked the students to send him explicit pictures of themselves and discussed having both girls engage in sex acts.

Figurski came to the attention of police when one of the girl’s parents discovered the text messages and turned the phone over to the police. As a result, a computer crime detective assumed the identity of both girls and took over their cell phones.

Oakland County Sheriff’s investigators continued to pose as the teens and set up a meeting with Figurski for August 31. When Figurski went to meet with who he thought would be one of the girls, he was instead confronted by sheriff ’s deputies and arrested.

In September, Figurski was arraigned and his bond was set in the amount of $50,000.

Figurski is being held in the Oakland County Jail in lieu of bond with a pretrial court date set for October 22 and a trial date set for November 5th.

11/30/09 – Guilty Plea and Sentence

On November 19, 2009 Brandon Figurski was sentenced to an intermediate prison term of from two and a half years to ten years.

Michigan Department of Corrections records indicate that Figurski pleaded guilty to all charges.

So Im a friend of Fig and I would like to bring a different spin to the table! By day Im a hair dresser and by night I work as a female impersonator. Fig has come numerous times to view the shows and get to “know” the girls. Yes Fig had a bit of a dark side!

Fig is a great guy but he does have a bad habit for carrying out actions with little or no regards to the feelings of others…

I do believe Fig had intensions… Yet who is to say that his intensions weren’t to tell those girls face to face that they needed to leave him alone? The texts were never released to the public so who’s to say what was said…
Rules are set for a reason, but when the rules subject everyone to staying in the house, who isn’t going to step out for fresh air?

    Brandon you have my support!

  • diver.:

i am a diver and was among the girls he coached. (i was not not one of the girls involved, those are my teammates whom i love dearly!) but, i can assure you that the things said in these articles and reports are true. the story hasnt been twisted. our team went through a lot because of him and i think we’d know better than anyone what happened. i knew brandon for a couple of years before he was even my coach. he was my friend and i never suspected any of this from him. but once the season started, it was apparent that he was getting a little too close to the girls (including me and my best friend, not to mention the two girls he was texting) my friend and i just sort of ignored it and tried to take instruction from him despite his constant inappropriate comments. he obviously went too far with two fifteen year old girls. it may be true that they egged him on, but they’re 15. he’s 20. if i’m going to put the blame on anyone, i will definitely put it on the 20 year old man who was supposed to be a coach and leader figure to us. not the sophomores of high school. he should know right from wrong, and if he doesnt (which i assume is the case considering his actions) then he should not be a coach or in the proximity of anything tempting. i’m glad he got the sentence he did.

Think about what you did Brandon. It’s sad you had to learn a hard lesson like this, a lesson that will brand you for the rest of your life.

    Think long and hard.

  • Ex EMU'er now WCCCD:

Well, it says on the Michigan offender site, the earliest he can get out is 2/29/2012; And the latest he can get out is 8/30/2019. So hes’ got some time on his hands to think about all this.

If you are texting 15 year old girls you know it’s wrong. It’s disgusting, and immoral. No i don’t feel bad for him. This is exactly the type of incident that make coaches stay far away from meaningless physical contact with there athletes. It makes trustworthy coaches look bad. You get what you deserve hopefully it’s the max sentence. I leave you with this, Just imagine him driving over to your house so pumped because he thinks he’s going to have intercourse with your son or daughter. Awful. Had he not known the cops would be there there’s no way he would have driven there. Obviously, he knows right and wrong. It’s too bad he can’t read this post. Have fun in jail.

  • releigh:

Exactly. this is just ridiculous. Those girls had to be explicit to draw him in. So why does he get in trouble for being human?

  • Jacky:

Brandon is a sweet heart. This wouldn’t have gone so far if the two “innocent” 15 year olds weren’t texting him right back. They could have ignored him and let it all go. Obviously something was said by them to encourage it. I feel REALLY bad for brandon. This is soo wrong!

  • Amber:

I agree with most of the things posted on here..
I’ve known Brandon for quite sometime, and yes he did LOVE girls, but he wasnt out to hurt anyone.
Maybe he did take it to far yes, but he does NOT desurve to have his entire life ruined over a mistake he made, people get away with actually RAPING people everyday but the minute someone catches wind of a 20 year old texting an underage girl its considered unlawful?
These girls egged him on and he, being a man, wanted what virtually every guy wants.
Brandon Figurski is a sweetheart, and for one mistake to mess up everything he has worked for in his life, to mess up everything is wrong.
He will no longer be able to attend school finctions or work at any place where care is family or child oriented… that is messed up.
It’s not like he’s going to s**** some 10 year old girl, and its not like he would actually rape someone.
    So why so harsh?

    • Derek:

agree with Amber. good kid who has made his share of mistakes but doesn’t deserve a jail sentence. also seems as though the Oakland County Sheriff took over the girls cell phones and baited Brandon. Sounds a lot like entrapment to me.

  • GA:

Brandon is one of the nicest guys I ever met and I can’t even believe this story. Knowing Brandon as long as I have this story sounds like it has been twisted!!
Brandon is not the type at all to do something like this, and I hope that things turn out right in the end.

    We love you Brandon!!!!

  • brandonsbestfriend-jc:

it is unfortunate that this is the story that is being spread around in the news.
I can tell you 100% knowledge that 1)he NEVER touched these girls 2)he stated in one text message that he “does not have time for this… i just want to be your friend”, after which the detective continued to still try to bait him.
please stop assuming that what you read on the internet is the full story. it is nowhere close.
currently brandon is being held with people around his age that ACTUALLY TOUCHED AND HAD SEX with girls in their teens and are facing less of a sentence than he is… how does that make sense?

  • NoSympathy:

I have met Brandon as well, I didnt find him to be nice at all. He is one of the most pathetic people i’ve ever met in my years. and He knew very well what he was doing. He has that type of attitude all the time. Hes cocky and he thinks that he can do whatever he wants. The laws are the laws, you cant speak to your students like that and you cant speak to underage girls that way. He needs to grow up and hopefully this is a reality check. Karma for him, hes wronged a lot of people. I hope justice is served.

  • DarkMom:

“His whole life ruined.” Perhaps — and it’s just a thought — he shouldn’t have done it. This wasn’t a harmless flirtation, an innocent touch on the shoulder or congratulatory hug that someone misinterpreted. He lit the fuse, nobody else. It’s scary that someone would consider him the victim. But that’s our society today.

  • Releigh:

I’ve met Brandon and he is one of the nicest guys ever. But he also loves girls, and our laws make that illegal. I don’t agree with them, in the early years of America, girls were getting married at 14 to 45 year olds.
Now if a 15 or 16 year old talks dirty, or tries to hang out with anyone older then them, they go to jail.
    It’s just ridiculous.

  • MarkB:

The sad truth is that “when” he gets convicted of a sex crime, he will forever be labeled a sex offender. When he’s 40, 50, 60 years old he will be on a website stating in big bold letters that he is a child sex offender. So sad. The guy is 20. He did a STUPID thing. Our laws are screwed up. He doesn’t deserve to have his whole life ruined for this.
