Brandon Bates, 38, a former teacher at Huntington High School in Shreveport, Louisiana faces multiple charges after being caught in a car with a 16-year-old female Huntington High School student he once taught.

Bates is charged with one count each of indecent behavior with a juvenile, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, driving with a suspended license, flight from an officer and having an open alcohol container in the vehicle.
Reportedly Caddo Parish sheriff’s deputies investigating a suspicious car found Bates and the girl in the Honda Prelude about 3:30 a.m. December 25th.
It is alleged that Bates initially told deputies that the girl was his niece and subsequently told the deputy he and the girl are good friends.
It is further alleged that the girl told authorities she and Bates were planning on having sex and that the two had engaged in sexual activity previously that night.
Allegedly Bates told deputy that he picked the girl up from her home while her parents were asleep.
Bates currently works in the financial aid office at Southern University at Shreveport.
Reportedly Bates is free on bond and his next court date is set for January 26th.
01/20/09 – Brandon Bates Jailed
Brandon Bates has now been charged with molestation of a juvenile.
Reportedly Bates surrendered to authorities today and is being held in Caddo Correctional Center in lieu of $50,000 bond.
Bates was initially charged with one count each of indecent behavior with a juvenile, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, driving with a suspended license, flight from an officer and having an open alcohol container in the vehicle and was free on bond at the time the new charge was filed.
01/22/09 – Case Update
Police now say that Brandon Bates had a relationship with one of his 16-year-old students from January 2008 until the two were caught Christmas Eve parked on a dead-end street.
It is now alleged that the two engaged in sexual acts at several locations throughout Shreveport, including the school campus and Bates’ residence.
Reportedly detectives have interviewed Huntington High School staff members and are working to determine whether there are more alleged victims.
