Brad Goings, 31, an economics teacher and assistant football coach at Aberdeen High School in Aberdeen, Washington has been arrested and charged with one count of first degree sexual misconduct with a minor and three counts of communication with a minor for immoral purposes.
Reportedly Goings was disciplined by school officials in July of 2007 for sending text messages to students and was also warned to keep his door open when talking with female students. These actions reportedly came after the high school investigated rumors he was having an affair with a student.
Allegedly Goings began texting the alleged victims about school activities and eventually the texts became more personal and complimentary, then progressed to being overtly sexual in nature and in one case, the texting allegedly culminated in Goings having sexual contact with a 16-year-old female student. This incident is alleged to have occurred near the end of the last school year.
Most recently, Goings reportedly came to the attention of school administrators before the start of the current school year after a teacher the school Principal she had learned Goings had sent a large number of text messages, possibly to students.
The school began an investigation which over time resulted in the police becoming involved when students revealed the nature of some of the text messages allegedly from Goings and the 16-year-old revealed the alleged sexual contact with Goings.
Goings has been placed on administrative leave by the school system.

You know I went to Aberdeen High and he was a teacher of mine when I attended. This does not surprise me at all. The way he acted towards the cheerleaders and other students in that shape was inappropriate. I just shook my head and looked the other direction. He was always flirty with students and he was out of line. But it was not my place to confront the situation. He went to far and now he has to pay the piper and hopefully this is a slap back to reality. Students are supposed to be able to look up to their teachers and when teachers do things like this it makes that hard. Things like this make students fear going to their teachers when they need help. If teachers are going to do things like this then they shouldn’t be teachers.
