Ashley Esposito, 24, a former student-teacher at Turner Ashby High School in Bridgewater, Virginia has been arrested on felony charges of sodomy, and taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship.
Reportedly Esposito worked at the school from October to December of last year through a program as a student at James Madison University.
The alleged illicit activity is said to have occurred shortly after she left her job as a student-teacher. Reportedly Virginia case law states that a previous relationship can be considered if it occurs soon after the supervisory relationship ended.
Following her arrest Esposito was released on $3,000 secured bond.
If convicted she faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.
Esposito has a court date set for May 8.
05/08/08 - Case Continued
Ashley Esposito made a court appearance yesterday at which time a judge continued her case until September 11th.
Esposito remains free on bond.
09/12/08 - Esposito Found Guilty In First Case
Ashley Esposito was found guilty Thursday of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for buying alcohol for former students and providing them with booze at a party at her Harrisonburg apartment.
Esposito was sentenced to 10 months in jail, with six months suspended and fined $350.
Felony charges of sodomy and taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship and another misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor are going before a grand jury on Monday.
The felony charges carry a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
