April Burford Watson, 33, a math teacher junior varsity cheerleader adviser at Jay High School in Jay, Florida along with fellow teacher Ashley Elenea Burkett has been arrested on allegations of having sex with male juveniles in the teachers’ homes during 2007.
Both Watson and Burkett turned themselves in today and were reportedly booked into the Santa Rosa County Jail on three counts each of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a second degree felony and were subsequently released on $50,000 bond each.
Watson and Burkett came to the attention of authorities on July 28, 2009 after an anonymous letter was sent to the Santa Rosa County School District alleging sexual relationships between two Jay High School teachers and male juveniles. School officials turned the information over to the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office for investigation.
Reportedly, two of the boys alleged that they were involved in sexual activity with Watson at her residence and the residence of Burkett between the months of July and October 2007. One other victim alleged that he was involved in sexual activity with Burkett at her residence and the residence of Watson between the months of July and October 2007.
Sheriff’s investigators say that both of the suspects were questioned and that they both admitted to the alleged unlawful sexual activity.
Both Watson and Burkett were outfitted with GPS tracking devices when released on bond.

Watson was my High School Trig/pre cal. teacher in 2003!!! this is no surprise but i do feel bad for her husband… my health teacher… they were dating and married when i was in school… Crazy stuff… and honestly she looks awful in this pic. she use to be really cute… not sure what happen…
Where the heck were these teachers when I was in high school? Those were some lucky guys…although did they really have to throw these teachers under the bus? And what a spinless coward the author of the anonymous letter was. If you have something to say, show your face.

This is what’s on the minds of teenage boys when they go to school, but back then such “teachers” could get away with it because even if the boy were to kiss and tell, nobody would do anything. These women ought to know better than to think they’d get away with that sort of thing these days. Nobody does anymore.

Both admitted to the crimes, a confession is a hard to beat in court. I wonder if the punishment will fit the crime in this case.
