April Burford Watson, 33, a math teacher junior varsity cheerleader adviser at Jay High School in Jay, Florida along with fellow teacher Ashley Elenea Burkett has been arrested on allegations of having sex with male juveniles in the teachers’ homes during 2007.
Both Watson and Burkett turned themselves in today and were reportedly booked into the Santa Rosa County Jail on three counts each of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a second degree felony and were subsequently released on $50,000 bond each.
Watson and Burkett came to the attention of authorities on July 28, 2009 after an anonymous letter was sent to the Santa Rosa County School District alleging sexual relationships between two Jay High School teachers and male juveniles. School officials turned the information over to the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office for investigation.
Reportedly, two of the boys alleged that they were involved in sexual activity with Watson at her residence and the residence of Burkett between the months of July and October 2007. One other victim alleged that he was involved in sexual activity with Burkett at her residence and the residence of Watson between the months of July and October 2007.
Sheriff’s investigators say that both of the suspects were questioned and that they both admitted to the alleged unlawful sexual activity.
Both Watson and Burkett were outfitted with GPS tracking devices when released on bond.
01/27/10 – No Contest Plea
Reportedly, both April Burford Watson and Ashley Elenea Burkett have entered pleas of no contest to three counts of unlawful sexual activity with certain minors.
Both women are facing a minimum sentence of 33 months in prison.
Sentencing is set for April 14th.
(04/16/10 – Sentencing
April Watson was sentenced today to 15 months in prison.
Following her prison sentence, Watson will be on probation for 5 years. Her probation includes 18 months of community control.
In addition, Watson will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
Ashley Burkett received an identical sentence.
in a word no. just look at what most males got for the same crime.
double what they got and you would come close. Also gauge their looks to sentencing received. Pretty women do less time
I would have no problem with her being with my son. The justice system needs some tweaking for sure.

Clever, but not plausible…I can revise and edit, but issue remains the same: I can have sex with her,
and you can be on the sidelines. If you are purist of the english language (if you have taken
college English 101), apply what you learned–capitalize the first word of your sentence, and ironically
spell sentence correctly. Maybe your intention is to mock. So what? this is an informal forum; therefore,
no formal essays, research papers, or dissertations allowed. I can have unrevised comments on this site. Hmmmm, actually it looks like yesterday (1/26/2010) was the felony docket date.
I also see a felony sentencing date set for 4/14/2010. I wonder if April plead…?
Looks like the trials for these two were initially scheduled for December ’09 but were continued until late this month (Jan ’10). Perhaps they’re going on now???

Watson was my High School Trig/pre cal. teacher in 2003!!! this is no surprise but i do feel bad for her husband… my health teacher… they were dating and married when i was in school… Crazy stuff… and honestly she looks awful in this pic. she use to be really cute… not sure what happen…

This is what’s on the minds of teenage boys when they go to school, but back then such “teachers” could get away with it because even if the boy were to kiss and tell, nobody would do anything. These women ought to know better than to think they’d get away with that sort of thing these days. Nobody does anymore.
these two women were friends and it appears liked sex with young men for that young sex drive.

Both admitted to the crimes, a confession is a hard to beat in court. I wonder if the punishment will fit the crime in this case.
