Anthony Shelton, 37, former band director for Butler High School in Augusta, Georgia has been arrested and charged with two counts of child molestation and three counts of sexual assault against persons in custody.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Shelton made sexual advances to as many as six female students and two girls had sexual intercourse with him in his school office.
One alleged victim says that she had sex in the Butler High School band room with Shelton six to eight times and that the sexual contact occurred when she was fifteen years old. The alleged sexual contact is said to have taken place between September and December of 2007.
A second alleged victim, 16-years-old, told investigators that she also engaged in sexual intercourse with Shelton approximately 3 times between October and December of 2007.
A third alleged victim told investigators that in January 2008 she went to sleep on a couch in Shelton’s office and awoke to him fondling her breasts.
Investigators say that three other female students say Shelton made sexually explicit comments to them but did not engage in sexual activity with them.
Investigators says that their investigation is ongoing and that more potential victims out there and if that’s the case we definitely want them to come forward.
On Friday morning Shelton accompanied by a lawyer was interviewed by Sheriff’s investigators. Following that interview he was arrested and was reportedly being held in the Richmond County Jail.
07/23/08 - Grand Jury Indictment
Anthony Shelton has been indicted by a grand jury on three counts of child molestation and two counts of sexual assault against a person in a school.

Hopefully all the facts will come to light in this case.. To the stepson of Anthony Shelton.. I can’t imagine the pain you must feel having to deal with this. Please accept my apologies if I came across in a demeaning manner, it was not my intention.
We do have a problem across this country with adults taking liberties with kids….both in school and out of school. I don’t believe there are enough checks and balances in place to protect children from any alleged abuse that happens in schools.. Especially when it is a person, like an educator, a minister, a coach… a whatever, who happens to be in a position of power. At the same token I know kids can be vindictive too and I believe there is too much sex in the media, on video games, etc. In my day, in high school we would scorn the girls and boys that would be overly flirtatious and cross boundaries. Not anymore. It is now hailed as acceptable behavior. Morals have diminished everywhere. What can we do as a nation? Talk to your kids!!! Everybody talk to your kids!!

It seems that there is a lot of additional information about this matter that is not being exposed. These young ladies are all friends and one of them was put out of the band by Mr. Shelton. Another one of these young ladies was recently suspended from school because she was late for Mr. Sheltons class and when she returned to school she started making allegations. Word on the street is that they wanted him gone some they could all be in the band next year.
Futhermore, why isn’t the school steooing up so say yeah or nay on the allegation of Mr. Shelton sending for this young lady to come to the band hall 6-8 times a week for the past four months?
If this is true why isn’t anyone speaking on this matter?

I’m well aware of the first amendment right. I’m also well aware that people like to judge, convict, and hang those accused of being a sex offender with out actually waiting for the truth of the matter and by that time it’s to late. But on that matter, the allegations are completely false. I hope the investigators stop wasting time so this doesn’t have to even go to trial.
And on a final note, don’t insult my intelligence and talk down to me. You no not my age or my level of education. Considering that this topic is on my step-father and at the them I was posted, I was stressed, I typed and posted with out evaluating this website.

No one has said he is convicted of anything. If you go back and read it says arrested and charged, all in plain English. He will get his day in court, right? When people are arrested it goes in the news. That’s how this country works. And then when it goes to trial, it usually goes in the news again.. etc. When you are arrested and charged it goes on the public record. And when you appear in Court or are arraigned, its part of public record.
And if you are working closely with kids, and are arrested, it draws a lot of attention. Its called Freedom of the Press. You might learn something about it in a social studies book sometime.

You know, I find it really messed up that my stepfather has made it on this site when HE HAS NOT BEEN CONVICTED OF ANYTHING. What the hell happened to innocent until proven guilty? Seriously, this should be removed until the situation is finish.
