Anthony Scott Gilbert, 37, a teacher at B.F. Terry High School in Rosenberg, Texas who was charged Saturday with attempted murder after repeatedly stabbing his newborn son while holding his family hostage is also accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old female student.

Following an investigation by the Rosenberg Police Department, a warrant was issued for Gilbert for sexual assault of a child, with a bond set at $100,000.
Gilbert came to the attention of police Friday morning when his wife, Jennifer Gilbert, brought the couple’s one-week old baby to Sugar Land Methodist Hospital with multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck. The baby was later taken by LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Medical Center and was listed in critical condition.
Gilbert’s wife told investigators that he stabbed the baby repeatedly and held his family hostage on Thursday night.
When authorities arrived on the couple’s apartment Anthony Gilbert held them at bay and a SWAT team was called and officers shot gas into the man’s apartment, then rushed inside. Police say Gilbert was found with life-threatening self-inflicted stab wounds, and was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.
Anthony Gilbert was placed on administrative leave Thursday by the Lamar Consolidated School District. Investigators said they were unsure whether the allegations and suspension had prompted the apparent attack
