Andrew Foster, 27, of Boynton Beach, Florida and a drama teacher at Santaluces High School in Lantana, Florida is wanted by police on allegations of having sex with two 17-year-old students, impregnating one of them before taking her to an abortion clinic and signing forms on her behalf to end the pregnancy.
Police indicate that Foster began having sexual relations with one student in September 2006. Whe the girl became pregnant it is alleged that Foster took her to have an abortion. The relationship came to light when the girl, now 18, told her mother.
It is alleged that one of the girls had sex with Foster both at both the school and at his Boynton Beach apartment.
Foster is also alleged to have sent pornographic photos and videos of himself to the teens’ cell phones and to have taken the girls on trips that he said were school-related, but that one school official say were not.
A warrant has been issued for Foster’s arrest and police believe he is still in the South Florida area.
Reportedly he has not been at the school since the Labor Day break.
9/14/07 - Foster Taught in Indiana
Foster taught at Washing High School in South Bend, Indiana during the 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 school years. His contact was not renewed for the 2004-2005 years.
Reportedly Washington High School Resource Officer Cpl. Eric Crittendon told Boynton Beach Police that rumor was that Foster had exposed his genitals to a female teacher while teaching at Washington. In a subsequent clarification, Crittendon said he told the detective in Florida that the rumor was unfounded, therefore no police report was ever filed on the matter.
9/20/07 - Foster Arrested
Andrew Foster was arrested this afternoon at the Budget Inn on Main Street in Immokalee, Florida.
Foster has been on the run since Sept. 4 when he was accused of having sex with two 17-year-old students.
Follow his apprehension Foster was being taken to Palm Beach County jail.
9/21/07 - Foster Held Without Bond
Santaluces High School drama teacher Andrew Foster was ordered held without bond at his first court appearance today after U.S. Marshals captured him in Immokalee.
9/24/07 - Bail Denied
Andrew Foster has been denied bail.
Foster’s mother, Cheryl Foster, reportedly says that his accuser and her parents bear some of the responsibility for what happened. “Doesn’t she bear have some responsibility? Our children — we knew where they were. This mother has some responsibility for this.”
Police say that the relationship between Foster and one of the teens ended when the girl learned that Foster allegedly was having sex with another student as well.
10/02/07 - Student Arrested For Tipping Foster
Perpetua Michel, 18, a Santaluces High School graduate has been arrested on charges that she tipped off Andrew Foster that police were investigating allegations that he had sex with two underage students.
It is alleged that Michel used her cell phone to text message Foster on his cell phone that, he “was being trapped and to end this conversation” which was taking place as part of a police effort to engage Foster in a phone call as part of the investigation.
Allegedly Michel admitted in two sworn statements that she notified Foster he was under investigation and admitted knowing that her actions were wrong.
10/05/07 - Editorial Says School District Warned
In an Palm Beach Post editorial it is revealed that the school district had been warned about Foster’s alleged sexual activities with students. The editorial writer went so far as to say, “In fact, school officials enabled Foster’s predatory behavior.”
10/12/07 - Court Appearance
Foster appeared in court yesterday. The state revealed it has not filed charges yet, it would do so next week. Foster’s arraignment was set for October 18th.
10/18/07 Foster Jail Privileges Restricted
Andrew Foster had his jail privileges sharply restricted today because he asked an intermediary to tell one alleged victim he would pay her to stop cooperating with authorities.
Foster has been banned from having any mail, telephone or visitor communication from anyone other than his attorney for 60 days except he will be allowed limited contact with Foster’s parents in Indiana.
Allegedly Foster has been had been using a former drama student as a go-between.
11/01/07 - Documents Released Including Victim’s Diary
Today more documents were released including a diary belonging to one of the alleged victims, letters between Foster and students and police reports which portray Foster has operating his drama club in a cult like fashion.
One of the more troubling aspects of the release of the girl’s diary is that it suggests that she was impregnated twice, miscarried once and underwent an abortion once.
01/05/08 - Request to Lift Restrictions Denied
A judge yesterday denied a motion by Foster’s attorney to relax restrictions on whom he may contact. The judge did permit adding Foster’s brother to the list of those permitted contact with Foster.
Defense attorney Mark Solomon sought to broaden his client’s contact list to anybody who is not listed as a witness in the case.
1/08/08 - Charges Dropped against woman who tipped Foster
The state has dropped the charges against Perpetua Michel after she completed 20 hours of community service work with domestic violence victims and wrote an essay about law enforcement.
