Aaron Westbrook, 25, a social science teacher, surf team coach and assistant girls volleyball coach at Capistrano Valley High School in in Mission Viejo, California has been taken into custody on suspicion of having sex with one of his female students.
School officials reportedly received an e-mail containing allegations of the alleged illicit activity from a concerned parent just before Thanksgiving and began an investigation on Monday. Administrators interviewed students about the allegations and thereafter concluded that a crime may have been committed. School officials then contacted the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Reportedly Westbrook was taken into custody on the campus Monday and was subsequently released on bond.
A school district spokesperson indicated that Westbrook will not be attending any of his classes and that the Capistrano Unified School District school board will review in their next meeting whether to place him on compulsory leave during the criminal investigation, which is without pay.
01/22/09 – Case Update
In a press release, the Orange County District Attorney’s office has revealed that it has charged Aaron Westbrook with three felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, two felony counts of oral copulation of a minor, two felony counts of administering a controlled substance to enable a felony, three misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and three misdemeanor counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor.
According to the press release, Westbrooks’s arraignment will take pace at 9:00 a.m. at the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach on February 11th.
The DA’s office says that between June 1, 2008, and Nov. 1, 2008, Westbrook is accused of having an unlawful sexual relationship with two separate female victims on separate occasions, both 17 years old, whom he met while teaching at Capistrano Valley High School.
Westbrook is accused of giving alcohol to both victims and illegally engaging in oral copulation and intercourse at his home and at the home of one of the victims.
The DA’s office says that the school principal contacted the police after receiving a letter from a concerned parent.
02/11/09 – Arraignment
Aaron Westbrook appeared in court for arraignment this morning and entered not guilty pleas to five felony sex counts involving a minor, two felony counts of administering a controlled substance to enable a felony, three misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and three misdemeanor counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Westbrook who remains free on on $50,000 bail faces a maximum of seven years in state prison if convicted.
07/29/09 – Guilty Plea
Today, Aaron Westbrook pleaded guilty to three felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, two felony counts of oral copulation of a minor, two felony counts of administering a controlled substance to enable a felony, three misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and three misdemeanor counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor.
In spite of the multiple felony counts to which Westbrook pleaded guilty, Superior Court Judge Gregory Jones sentenced him to only 240 days in county jail and three years probation.
Reportedly, prosecutors objected to the lack of prison time in Westbrook’s sentence.

Being a Christian and being a scumbag are not mutually exclusive. People who hate in the name of religion are scumbags.
Referring to somebody who has sex with a 17 year old as a “pedophile” is ridiculous. 17 is biologically adult and 17 year olds are fully aware of their sexuality. The girls knew what they were doing, partying and having sex with their “hunk” teacher. My guess is that they felt sophisticated for doing so. In most countries in the world, and most states of the US, the age of consent is under 17. I would characterize Westbrook’s actions as immature, impulsive, weak, and opportunistic (certainly not good teacher material) but not predatory.
Westbrook was a great teacher when I had him. really really friendly. really supportive geography teacher always willing to listen and give a hug or a backrub,
I just found out about this whole situation and am thoroughly disgusted. I dated Aaron a while back for a brief period of time when I lived closer to Orange County. I feel so grossed out! Does anyone know when he gets out of jail? And were there two girls or only one?

The fact that you’ve known Aaron for a decade does not mean that you’re capable of judging him: not even slightly. You’re not…so don’t.
And further, please tell me one person who does not sometimes and/or often pretend to be someone that they are not. Can’t do it, can you? That’s because we all do it. That’s because we all struggle. That’s what, in part, being a human is.
Now, if you’d like to advance humanity–if you’d really like to make a legitimate and authentic positive difference: then perhaps you should stop judging and start loving. And no, your comments are not remotely loving.

Aaron is not a Christian. All of his actions prove against that. I have known him for 10 years- he’s a scumbag who pretends to be someone he is not.
It has now become fashionable for male perverts to sport a mustache and goatee no matter how scruffy he may be. Check out how many of these perverts all look alike. I guess these pervs think this facial hair adds an aura of sophistication to their savoir faire. It’s sickening!

Here’s an interesting spin for the Christians that have taken a liking to shaming Aaron:
Mary, the mother of Jesus, was younger than these girls when she gave birth to the Son of God; Jospeh, on the other hand, was older than Aaron currently is at the time of Jesus’ birth.
But even still, if you take Jesus’ birth to be a result of “immaculate conception,” and that therefore the Holy Spirit literally impregnated Mary, then you are condemning God in the same way that you are condeming Aaron.
Is God a rapist and/or a child molestor? If you take the story of Jesus’ birth literally–and believe in the immaculate conception–and if you apply the logic of our judicial system, then your answer will be yes. Yes, your answer will be that God is a rapist and a child molestor.
Leaves one to think, doesn’t it?
For those that are not Christians, and have been still shaming Aaron:
You should check your lineage and see when your great, great grandmother gave birth to your great grandfather. Perhaps you will discover that Aaron’s crime is a cultural one–and not necessarily a universally immoral one. That, more specifically, the legal age for sexual consent in California MAY be due for a change.
This is all assuming, of course, that the sex was consensual. And it is not factoring in “alleged” actions based on gossip and not fact.
He WAS innocent until proven guilty.
And “parent”, you may be mistaken about Aaron working at Vanguard. His Dad is an ex-lawyer/judge who teaches business classes there. He is a very respected teacher there. So I think you have the two people confused.
Hopefully Aaron can “man up” after this experience and take after Dad’s work ethic. However, from my experience, his dad did give the cute girls I knew a better grade on their papers than mine, and they didn’t even read their books!!!!!!
Correction… Vanguard University not Vanderbilt. He is already back working in a school. Also, the report does not include that part of the deal is that he will not be listed as a Registered Sex Offender.
Bought and PAID FOR! Aaron has been telling people for months that he would do little or no time and he was right! The only place that he denied guilt was during his arraignment last February. Attorney Daddy Westbrook comes through just as Aaron predicted. So much for all of you that have insisted that he was innocent. Wise up! This case was about not one but two minor girls. This case was about arrogant young man who believes he is above the law and confident that Daddy will fix everything. This is a case of a teacher who supplied drugs and alcohol to minors. So much for teachers being held to a higher standard. Not if they have a Daddy Westbrook. When reporting the verdict, the word restitution was overlooked. Look up restitution in your thesaurus and you will find the work “compensation.” This is not about 240 days of which Aaron will serve only a portion, this is about money and a legal system that can be bought and paid for. Aaron will be free to this again. Oh! Where do you think is working now? Vanderbilt University. Daddy’s own stomping ground. Is he teaching? Or, better yet, want to place odds on how long it is before he is teaching again. Keep your teenage girls close, he’ll be out sooner than you know.
There it is in BLACK and WHITE. Daddy Westbrook bailed him out. Guilty as charged. The judge should be in jail for letting creeps like this get away with a slap on the wrist. SICK.
Aaron pleaded guilty today to 13 of the 14 counts he was charged with. As a father I would say he got off very lucky. He is sentanced to 240 days, which means he might do 120 and 3 years probation. This goes to show that justice can be bought in O.C., and I just thought that could happen in L.A. County. Aaron rest up for your 120 days because you should sleep with one eye open in there.
I also question why this has not reached the media. It appears that the charges have been increased from 11 to 13 counts including three of administering a drug. It also appears that he is accused providing alcohol as well as drugs to each of the minors. Aaron’s plea was not guilty on all counts. However, in his child custody case, Aaron claims that the sex was consensual. It has also been said that he got one of the girls so drunk/drugged that she vomited in his car and he still proceeded to have sex with her. What is consensual about that? Isn’t it a crime to have sex with someone even if they are over 21 who is that drunk? How can someone in that condition consent to anything?
I also understand that Daddy Westbrook arranged to have a different judge assigned to the custody hearing. This new judge granted Aaron who full unsupervised visitation. Aaron is also planning to appear in court to protest court order child support for his daughter who was born in October 2008. Aaron has money for attorneys and bail. However, he does not appear to be willing to pay for the support of his own daughter.
Aaron has also been quoted as saying that he expects to serve little if any time as a result of his actions. Does this sound like someone who is claiming innocents. Or, does this sound like someone is who arrogant and in complete denial that he has done anything wrong.
