Creth Boyd, 28, a former special education teacher and coach at Boyd County Middle School in Ashland, Kentucky has reportedly been charged on allegations that he sent sexually-oriented text messages to a 14-year-old female student.
Boyd reportedly faces a felony charge of unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual activities.
On November 13, Boyd was indicted on allegations that he sent at least one message to the girl with his cell phone in December, 2008 to induce the alleged victim to have sex with him.
According to the records of the Kentucky Educational Professional Standards Board, in September Boyd agreed to surrender his teaching credentials and never to apply for teaching or administrative certification in Kentucky again.
If convicted Boyd could spend up to five years in prison.
Boyd is currently free on bond with his arraignment set for December 4th.

Brandon Figurski, 20, a former volunteer assistant swim coach at Oxford High School in Oxford, Michigan has reportedly been charged on allegations of sending sexually explicit texts to two 15-year-old female members of the diving team.

Figurski is reportedly charged with felony counts of child sexually abusive activity, using a computer to commit a crime and communicating with another to commit a crime.
It is alleged that Figurski via text message repeatedly asked the students to send him explicit pictures of themselves and discussed having both girls engage in sex acts.
Figurski came to the attention of police when one of the girl’s parents discovered the text messages and turned the phone over to the police. As a result, a computer crime detective assumed the identity of both girls and took over their cell phones.
Oakland County Sheriff’s investigators continued to pose as the teens and set up a meeting with Figurski for August 31. When Figurski went to meet with who he thought would be one of the girls, he was instead confronted by sheriff ’s deputies and arrested.
In September, Figurski was arraigned and his bond was set in the amount of $50,000.
Figurski is being held in the Oakland County Jail in lieu of bond with a pretrial court date set for October 22 and a trial date set for November 5th.
11/30/09 – Guilty Plea and Sentence
On November 19, 2009 Brandon Figurski was sentenced to an intermediate prison term of from two and a half years to ten years.
Michigan Department of Corrections records indicate that Figurski pleaded guilty to all charges.

(U.K.) Marc Grim, 37, a teacher who had a sexual relationship with a girl pupil after seducing her during extra one-to-one PE lessons was yesterday jailed for 10 months. He invited the girl’s mother to a meeting to discuss her daughter’s “sporting ability” and suggested the teenager would benefit from private tuition. Soon afterwards he began a relationship with the girl. Grim regularly told her that he “loved” her in exchange for sex acts, Exeter Crown Court heard. Link 1 and Link 2
(U.K.) Madeleine Martin, 39, a religious education teacher who pleaded guilty to 10 counts of causing a teenage boy to engage in sexual activity in February this year, has been jailed for 32 months. Link 1 and Link 2
(Canada) The Crown wants Alexander Clachers put behind bars indefinitely, taking the first steps Thursday to have the former Kenner Collegiate teacher sentenced as a dangerous offender. A jury found Clachers, 58, guilty on 15 sex-related counts Oct. 30 after a four-week trial. Link

Manuel Perez, 42, a former language arts teacher and soccer coach at Milton-Union High School in West Milton, Ohio has reportedly pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency or unruliness of a minor on allegations of improper texting with a 17-year-old female student.
At the court hearing, Perez reportedly told the court:
I made a huge mistake with inappropriate communication with student in text, and as a teacher, I should never have done. A couple of times we met outside school and nothing went on, but it was inappropriate and I’m really sorry for that.
As part of the plea deal, prosecutors won’t file additional charges against Perez involving the girl.
Perez, who faces a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine, remains free on his own recognizance to await sentencing. No sentencing date was set at yesterday’s hearing.
Perez came to the attention of authorities earlier this year when girl’s parents contacted the county sheriff’s office about alleged improper texting. Reportedly investigators allegedly discovering hundreds of text messages between Perez and the girl.
Perez resigned from the school system shortly after the allegations surfaced.

Albert Thomas “Tom” Rogers, 51, former superintendent of the Tanque Verde Unified School District in Tucson, Arizona was reportedly arrested last week by federal agents on suspicion that he planned to engage in sexual acts with a boy.

Rogers was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents at the San Luis Port of Entry last Friday on suspicion that he planned to engage in sexual acts with a 13-year-old boy.
Reportedly, Rogers was charged with one count of travel with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct and if convicted could face up to 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
It is alleged that Rogers had arranged an overnight trip to include “relaxation intimacy” with a 13 to 14-year old boy in Mexico. The reservation was made online with an undercover federal agent as part of an ongoing sting operation.
Rogers, who was hired by the district in April 2007, reportedly resigned by way of handwritten letter from the Yuma County Jail, a letter in which Rogers reportedly wrote, “Please accept this as my letter of resignation and let Steven know so he can inform the board. Tell him I’m sorry to leave the district in such a horrible way but I don’t know what is going on or what will happen to me”.
Rogers made an initial appearance in Yuma on Monday and has a status hearing scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday.
06/29/09 – Rogers To Remain Jailed Until Trial
U.S. District Judge Edward C. Voss has ruled that Albert Thomas Rogers will be held in jail until his trial, which is scheduled to begin on August 4th.
08/31/09 – Trial Delayed
Albert Thomas Rogers trial on charges of travel with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct has been delayed until December 1st at the request of Rogers’ attorney.
Reportedly, Rogers’ attorney says additional time is needed to receive and review discovery and for further investigation.
11/25/09 – Guilty Plea
On Tuesday, Albert Thomas “Tom” Rogers pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Phoenix to one count of travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct and one count of possession of child pornography.
Rogers faces between five and nine years in federal prison at sentencing on February 1, 2010.

Justin Mikels, 25, a social studies teacher and assistant coach at GOAL School, an alternative high school, in Knoxville, Iowa has reportedly been arrested on allegations of the sexual exploitation of a 16-year-old female student.

Mikels is reportedly charged with sexual exploitation by a school employee, which is an aggravated misdemeanor.
Mikels came to the attention of authorities in October when the student contacted the principal of the school the with the allegations.
Police say that said the student was not physically harmed, is still attending school and that both the teacher and student have cooperated with the investigation.
Mikels was placed on paid administrative leave in October.
Following his arrest, Mikels was reportedly released on bond and is due in court in early December.
