Michael Andrew Townsend, 27, a former teacher and coach at Marshall High School in Marshall, Texas has reportedly been arrested and charged with two counts of online solicitation of a minor.

Townsend is alleged to have sent numerous text messages of an inappropriate nature to two juveniles females.

Reportedly Townsend was placed on suspension in January and resigned from the school system in early February.

04/30/09 – Grand Jury Indictment

The Harrison County Grand Jury has reportedly indicted Michael Andrew Townsend on two counts of online solicitation of a minor.

According to District Attorney Joe Black, Townsend will be arraigned in either late May or early June at which time he will enter a plea to the charges against him.

Townsend is currently free on bonds totaling $40,000.

Guilty

Michael Roettger, 32, a former girls’ basketball coach at Mabton High School, in Mabton, Washington has pleaded guilty to having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old player on his team.

In a plea deal with prosecutors, Roettger pleaded guilty to a charge of sexual misconduct with a minor in exchange for the prosecutor recommending a six-month sentence.

Roettger admitted to having a sexual relationship with the girl during the 2007-08 basketball season.

Roettger will have to register as a sex offender when he is released from jail.

Following his guilty plea, Roettger was taken into custody and held in the Yakima County Jail awaiting formal sentencing, now set for April 8th.

04/30/09 – Sentencing

Michael Roettger has been sentenced to six months in jail on his earlier guilty plea to a charge of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Roettger will reportedly be required to register as a sex offender.

Guilty

Lindsey H. Froehlich, 26, a teacher at the Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents, in Rockville, Maryland has been arrested and charged with sexually abusing a 16-year-old male student/resident of the school which focuses on emotionally challenged children.

It is alleged that Froehlich had established a personal relationship between herself and the student that escalated into inappropriate touching initiated by Froehlich. The incidents allegedly occurred during school hours and on school property.

Froehlich came to the attention of authorities on May 19th by way of the school administration contacting Child Protective Services with allegations of improper touching occurring that day.

Following her arrest, bail for Froehlich was initially set at $250,000. At a court hearing on Friday her bail was reduced to $75,000. Bail for Froehlich is conditioned upon her staying away from the school and having no contact with minors other than her 3-year-old daughter.

Froehlich has been placed on administrative leave by the school system.

04/29/09 – Guilty Plea and Sentencing

Lindsey H. Froehlich has reportedly pleaded guilty to fourth-degree sexual offense.

As a result of her plea, Froehlich was sentenced to three years probation including six months in a pre-release center.

Froehlich is not required to register as a sexual offender.

Montgomery County Circuit Court Judge Eric M. Johnson gave Froehlich probation before judgment, meaning the case would be expunged from Froehlich’s record if she abides with the terms of her probation.

Conditions of probation include Froehlich is prohibited from teaching children who are of middle school age or younger, is prohibited contact with the victim and contact with students at RICA.

Court records indicate that Froehlich is to begin her six months in the pre-release center on May 1st.

Court records also indicate that on 4/28/09, the defense filed a motion for adjustment of commitment date.
