Christopher Welch, 38, a health and physical education teacher and sports athletic trainer at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North in Plainsboro Township, New Jersey has been arrested and charged with sex crimes.

It is alleged that Welch touched six female student-athletes in an inappropriate manner while employed as the athletic trainer at the school.

Welch has been charged with four counts of aggravated criminal sexual contact and two counts of criminal sexual contact.

Following his Wednesday arrest Welch was released on $50,000 bail.

01/30/09 – Sentencing

Christopher Welch, who in November pleaded guilty to six counts of child endangerment, was today sentenced five years probation.

Welch was also ordered to surrender his teaching license and athletic trainer certificate to the court.

Under the terms of his probation, Welch is prohibited unsupervised contact with girls under the age of 16, excluding his own children.

The judge also ordered Welch to undergo a psycho-sexual examination to determine if he is a threat to society.

(6/23/07 – Initial BBT Report)

James C. Love, 37, of Bloomington, Illinois a substitute teacher for Bloomington and Normal, Illinois schools and a minister at Bloomington’s Mount Pisgah Baptist Church has been set for trial on July 16 on four counts of aggravated battery and four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Love is alleged to have sedated and sexually abused four teenage boys at his home earlier this year.

Reportedly Love is married and has a 14-year-old son.

Love remains jailed in lieu of $40,000 bail and a pre-trial hearing is set for July 12th.

7/12/07 – Trial Delayed

The trial for James C. Love set for July 16th has been delayed owing to delays in obtaining necessary DNA testing results and production of evidence to the defense. There is no new trial date set at this time, although a status hearing is scheduled for August 21st.

Love remains in jail in lieu of paying the $40,000 bail.

11/21/07 – State Trial Delayed Till Feds Are Done

McLean County Circuit Court Judge Kevin Fitzgerald has granted a request for a delay in Jame Love’s trial on state charges until such time as the federal charges are settled.

The judge also authorized supervised visits between Love and his 14-year-old son.

2/08/08 – Federal Trial Delayed

The federal trial of James C. Love, scheduled for February 25th, has been delayed so that Love can be evaluated at a medical facility in the prison system.

07/18/08 – Competent For Trial

James Love has been found competent to stand trial on federal child pornography charges.

Love is scheduled to stand trial in October.

09/30/08 – Guilty Plea To Child Pornography

James Love pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to child pornography charges.

Love will serve 20 years in federal prison and be be on supervised release for life once he completes his prison sentence.

All other charges against Love were dropped as part of the plea deal.

The plea to the child pornography count was for taking explicit photos of boys after he drugged and molested them at his Bloomington home last year.

In light of James Love’s guilty plea and sentence in federal court state charges against him in McLean County have been dropped.

01/30/09 – Formal Sentencing

In keeping with the terms of his plea deal in October, James Love has been sentenced in a federal court to 20 years in federal prison for child pornography.

Curtis Harold Key, 38, a former language teacher at Haverford High School in Haverford, Pennsylvania has been initially charged with a first-degree misdemeanor charge of corruption of minors on allegations he had a sexual relationship with a then 16-year-old male student.

Key has been given 24 hours to turn himself in to authorities.

Key came to the attention of police after an initial investigation by school officials. School officials referred the alleged victim and his parents to police.

It is alleged that in early October that the student told Key he “had feelings” for him and according to the alleged victim, Key told him he had feelings for him also.

Allegedly the relationship began with Key and the boy exchanging Internet messages and expressing feelings and making arrangements to meet. Reportedly, the boy enrolled in a Chinese club moderated by Key in order to provide time for the pair to speak privately before and after club meetings.

It is further alleged that the relationship became physical on October 17th, when the pair kissed. It is further alleged that the boy told police that he and Key met at Key’s residence and engaged in various sexual activities.

The alleged relationship came to light when the student told a friend of it, the friend told another and a discussion of the matter was overheard by a teacher.

It is alleged that Key admitted the sexual relationship with the student to investigators and in a written statement reportedly said that he fell for the student against his better judgment.

It is alleged that Key’s written statement also says, “I know that I should not have been involved with the juvenile male but the attention he gave to me made me overlook the inappropriateness, naively.”

Reportedly, Key told authorities the pair had sexual contact only twice.

Police have confiscated Jey’s home computer and the school computer used by Key in order to conduct a forensic analysis of each. If computer crimes are discovered, police say additional charges may be filed.

Key was suspended by the school system when the initial investigation began. He subsequently resigned.

If convicted, Key would face up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

01/30/09 – Case Update

Yesterday Curtis Key was arraigned on a charge of corruption of a minor, waived his preliminary hearing and was released after posting 10 percent of $50,000 bail.

Key’s bail was conditioned upon electronic home monitoring, as well as no contact with the student, the student’s family or any minors.
