Chad Elliott Siu, 22, a former assistant volleyball coach at Mount Rainier High School in Des Moines, Washington has been charged with second-degree sexual misconduct with a minor.

It is alleged that Siu had sexual contact with a 16-year-old female student in November 2007 and January 2008.

It is alleged that during the 2007 volleyball season she and Siu texted, talked on the phone and flirted and that in November Siu texted the girl after a volleyball banquet and asked her to come to his apartment. It is further alleged that Siu picked the girl up at her house around midnight and returned to his apartment and that while watching a movie in his bedroom, Siu gave her an alcoholic drink, fondled and kissed her. Allegedly when the girl said she would not have sex with him, Siu took her home.

It is alleged that in the January 2008 incident Siu texted the girl and wanted to meet up with her that night. Allegedly Siu picked her up in his van and drove to a business complex where they attempted to have intercourse.

It is alleged that in March 2008 that the victim told head volleyball coach Bryan Harley of the relationship. It is further alleged that Harley later gave the girl a copy of an apology letter Siu had written her, but did not let her keep it “for legal reasons”.

The girl subsequently went to school administrators in October and an investigation was begun.

According to court documents, both men denied to school officials that a relationship had occurred.

The girl later accessed Siu’s e-mail account, to which he had earlier provided her the password, and found a copy of the apology and a message from Harley to Siu saying he “wanted to punch (the girl) in the face” and that he had Siu “covered on everything.” He said the girl did not have the letter, and that “she will get no support or sympathy from me or anyone else.”

Court documents said that after being contacted by authorities, Siu acknowledged that he had a relationship with the girl, and Harley admitted that he had knowledge of the relationship, and that he had lied to the school district because he thought the girl lacked evidence.

Siu is charged with second-degree sexual misconduct with a minor. Bryan Kim Harley is charged with violating the mandatory reporting law, for failing to report the relationship after he became aware of it.

Chad Siu resigned from the school in March and Bryan Harley was fired in October.

Reportedly both men are now employed by airlines.

Mark Carpenter, 54, an assistant principal at Lee Road Junior High School, in Covington, Louisiana has been arrested on allegations of aggravated rape of a young girl over a period of years beginning twenty years ago.

It is alleged that Carpenter began sexually abusing the girl, then 6-years-old, twenty years ago and that the sexual abuse continued until the girl was 16-years-old. The alleged victim is now 26-years-old.

Carpenter joined St. Tammany Parish schools during the 1997-98 school year becoming a parishwide assistant principal in 2006. Carpenter was assigned to Lee Road Junior High School this year.

Carpenter who was being held in the St. Tammany Parish Jail without bond on Tuesday has reportedly resigned from the school system.

11/24/08 – Guilty Plea and Sentencing

Mark Carpenter has pleaded guilty on Monday afternoon to raping a 6-year-old girl and to possessing child pornography.

Carpenter was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the forcible rape charge, without the benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.

He received five years for the child pornography charge.

The sentences will run concurrently.
