Richard Berkley, 42, a former teacher at Dexter High School in Dexter, Kansas has been arrested and charged for engaging in inappropriate sexual relations with a female student.

According to NewsCow.net:

The formal criminal complaint - obtained by NewsCow - alleges that between Jan. 1, 2007 and May 9, 2008, Berkley engaged in lewd fondling or touching with the girl, who would have been 16 or 17 at the time. She is identified on the document by her initials and a birth date of February 7, 1991 is listed for her.

Reportedly Berkley was released on bond immediately following his arrest earlier this month.

According to NewsCow.net, Berkley resigned from the school system in April after having been initially suspended by the school system.

(U.S. - Colorado) The Catholic Diocese of Pueblo, Colo., and the Marianist religious order have agreed to pay $4 million to settle the claims of 23 men who said they were sexually abused by former Brother William Mueller Roncalli High School between 1966 and 1971. Link

(Malaysia) Mohd Harith Mohd Nor, 40, a teacher of 18 years faces up to five years in jail and whipping, if convicted of sexually abusing two of his students by encouraging them to perform unnatural sex acts. Link

(Australia) Amanda Louise Thompson, 28, who is accused of pursuing an illegal relationship with a student while she was a teacher at a school south of Brisbane is currently on trial. She has pleaded not guilty to one count of maintaining an unlawful relationship with a child between April 2003 and 2005. It’s alleged the relationship started when the girl was just 14 years old. (Canada) Christopher McLister, 37, a teacher with the Lambton Kent District school board, was arrested Wednesday and charged with sexual assault after allegations of a sexual relationship with a female high school student, police say. Link

(U.S. - California) Helix High School officials are calling for the resignation of a Grossmont Union High School District board member who recently accused Helix of covering up teacher-student sex scandals, it was reported Friday. But the board member says he won’t budge. Link

(Israel) The teacher accused of having sex with one of her students was released by the Rishon Lezion Magistrate court on Friday and placed under a six-day house arrest. The teacher denied the allegations against her, and claimed that one of her female students fabricated the whole story. Link

John Tiger, 39, a football coach at New Diana High School in Diana, Texas has been arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor age 14 and under.

It is alleged that Tiger, a former teacher and coach at Union Hill High School, maintained contact with at least one Union Hill student after he left the district and on Friday sent a text message to the girl.

It is further alleged that the text message instructed the 14-year-old girl to meet Tiger after the football game at a prearranged location.

Reportedly the girl and her mother were alarmed by the nature of the text message and went to the Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s Department officers reportedly established constant visual surveillance of Tiger at the football game and maintained visual contact on him that night after the game.

Other officers were stationed at the prearranged location at the time that he was allegedly to meet the girl.

When Tiger arrived at the prearranged location he was met instead by Upshur County law enforcement officers, taken into custody and taken to Upshur County Jail.

Reportedly, initial bond for Tiger was set in the amount of $500,000 and he was being held in lieu of that bond.

Today, 10/27/08 is reportedly Tiger’s birthday.

The alleged victim, turned 15-years-old on Saturday.

The mother of the alleged victim says that she took her daughter’s cell phone and pretended to be her daughter, replying to Tiger’s text and that she then set up a meeting with Tiger. The girl’s mother says that via text message Tiger asked her if they could meet at her house in Union Hill for sex.

Reportedly authorities arrested Tiger on the street in front of her house Saturday night.

Reportedly John Tiger formally resigned from the school district on Wednesday of this week.

Tiger remains jailed in lieu of $500,000 bond.
