(07/30/08 – Initial BBT Report)

Shannon Fowler, 37, a math teacher at Paul Knox Middle School in North Augusta, South Carolina has been arrested on allegations she had an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old female student.

Fowler has been charged with five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, one count of enticing enrolled child from attendance in school, and one count of violating mandated test security regulations and procedures set forth by the S.C. Board of Education.

It is alleged that Fowler engaged in an inappropriate relationship with the student since last fall and encouraged the girl to create a “false persona or imaginary student” to hide the relationship.

Fowler is also accused of transporting the student off campus several times a week without permission from the child’s parents and discussing standardized test questions with her.

It is further alleged that Fowler engaged in explicit adult-themed conversations with the girl.

(South Africa) Two KwaZulu-Natal high school pupils have been suspended after cellphone video footage showing them having sex inside a school toilet emerged. Link

(US) Stacey Rambold, a male teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a female student has resigned, agreed to leave the district and surrender his Montana teaching license. Link

(US) Daniel Zera, 47, a northern New York gymnastics instructor has been charged with child sex abuse. A 13-year-old female victim alleged. Link

(Canada) The sexual exploitation trial of former South Delta teacher Timothy Andronyk has once again been put on hold. Link

(US) Sandeep Munshi, 47, who teaches music at a Hindu temple in the Miami, Florida area is behind bars after being accused of sexual battery by a young girl. Link

(06/07/08 – Initial BBT Report)

Sarah Jayne Bridges, 24, a substitute teacher in the Eugene School District in Eugene, Oregon has been arrested and charged with third-degree rape, sodomy and sexual assault.

It is alleged that Bridges engaged in sexual activity with a male middle school student in March of this year with the alleged sexual assault said to have taken place away from the school.

Thus far the police and the school system have provided no information on the age, grade level or school of the alleged victim.

Bridges came to the attention of the police by way of school officials.

Bridges teaching privileges with the school system have been suspended.

06/08/08 – Sarah Bridges Released on Bail

Sarah Bridges was released on bail on Saturday morning.

07/16/08 – Guilty Plea and Sentencing

Today Sarah Bridges pleaded guilty to rape in the third degree and sodomy in the third degree.

Bridges was sentenced to 60 days in jail, five years probation and $1,000 in court assessments.

Bridges was also ordered to undergo sex-offender treatment, refrain from having any contact with minors, provide a DNA sample, register as a sex offender and undergo a polygraph examination upon the request of her probation officer.

07/29/08 – No Room For Bridges In the Jail

Sarah Jayne Bridges has yet to start her 60 day jail sentence, reportedly due to no room in the jail.

The Deputy DA says that the sentence would likely be short because of jail overcrowding.
