Maria R. Commins, 39, a teacher at Greenport Elementary School in Greenport, New York has been arrested on allegations of serving alcohol to and raping a 15-year-old boy.

Commins came to the attention of police when a private investigator hired by her husband called in a tip indicating that Commins and the boy were together in a room at the Holiday Inn Express in Riverhead, New York.
Commins allegedly told the investigating officer that “she’d picked him up, bought some beer, checked into the Holiday Inn Express had sexual relations twice.”
Reportedly Commins who was arrested on Friday, was released on bail on Saturday and gave a letter of resignation to the Greenport schools Superintendent on Sunday.
The alleged victim is a 15-year-old eighth-grade student at Greenport High School and police suspect that Commins had sex with the boy in remote areas in Greenport or Southold.
Commins reportedly has three children and the alleged victim is a friend of her son.
It is alleged that both Commins and the boy told police they are “in love”.
Commins allegedly told police that the relationship started around the boy’s birthday and that they’d had sex seven or eight times before they were caught at the Holiday Inn Express.
Commins who is charged with two counts of rape, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawfully dealing with a child is free on $500 bail and has a court appearance set for tomorrow.
2/27/08 - Court Appearance
Maria Commins appeared in court on Tuesday and was issued a “stay-away order of protection”, forbidding her to communicate with the teen.
Reportedly Commins was accompanied to her court appearance by her husband.
