(9/28/07 – Initial BBT Report)
Dianne Dieterich, 35, a former chairwoman of the business and technology department and a track and field coach at Catholic High School in Knoxville, Tennessee has pleaded guilty to the statutory rape of a male student.

Dieterich came to the attention of authorities when students began talking about Dieterich and a male student. This prompted Catholic High School officials to investigate. School officials in turn contacted Department of Children’s Services and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office which ultimately took over the investigation.
Dieterich who has worked at the school since 1999 was initially placed on administrative leave and subsequently fired from the school in August.
Following her guilty plea Dieterich was given a four year prison sentence but immediately applied for “judicial diversion” which basically amounts to probation with the possibility of dismissal or expungement of her guilty plea.
Additionally Dieterich must have no contact with the teen and stay in sexual and marital counseling as conditions of her sentence.
11/29/07 – Sentencing
Judge Mary Beth Leibowitz today granted Dianne Dietrich four years of judicial diversion as part of a plea deal Dietrich agreed to in September.
Dieterich will remain free unless she violates either the law or conditions of her probation, which include staying away from the student victim.
Dietrich is pregnant with the child of the victim and has a projected due date of April 29, 2008.
If Dietrich successfully completes her diversion the statutory rape charge could be expunged from her record.
