Jonathan Keith Spivey, 47, a choir teacher at Charlottesville High School, in Charlottesville, Virginia, who pleaded guilty this summer to several charges related to inappropriate conduct with students has been sentenced.

It was alleged that Spivey had inappropriate relationships with four male students over a seven-year period and that the youngest victim was only 15. In some cases, he had sexual relations with student on school grounds, and once on a chorus trip, according to a prosecutor.
Today the judge handed down a 20-year prison sentence, but suspended all but one year and nine months.
As part of his sentence Spivey will have to undergo five years of probation and register as a sex offender.
Earlier this summer Spivey pleaded guilty to one count of custodial indecent liberties and entered an Alford (no contest) plea on three other charges, admitting prosecutors had enough evidence to convict him of indecent conduct with those boys also although those charges were not actually prosecuted.
